Update: I Want Shorter Games With Worse Graphics

I let you pick what video I make next, and you delivered!

I've seen this meme posted in various places for years now. And it's a funny image on its own, but its also something I find myself agreeing with wholeheartedly. Many games are too long/crammed with stuff. They focus too much on bleeding edge graphics. They overwork their developers. And they don't pay them enough.

Now these are all massive problems that have long videos made about each of them separately. There are obviously no simple solutions for most of them (*cough* unionization *cough*). But I wanted to talk a little bit about why this sentiment is only growing more common among many fans of video games like myself.

It's really just going to be a rant video more than anything. Probably less research/problem focused than even my remakes video. But I want to try and accurately summarize the frustration people have towards the AAA games industry at the very least.

So let me know your thoughts on this meme, or about gaming in general. Let me know any specific angles you want covered in the video. And stay tuned for later this month when the video comes out!

Update: I Want Shorter Games With Worse Graphics

I don't know if it's nostalgia or not but the Xbox 360/PS3 generation has always felt like when gaming peaked. I know you can only innovate so much but I feel like everything but the graphics peaked years ago.

Honestly, stylized graphics look and age far better than attempting cutting edge graphics most of the time...and on top of that, for horror games (or anything with a lot of gore) devs literally can get PTSD from having to research and animate that shit.

The only thing I disagree with regarding the meme is that most of the games with "worse graphics" are actually just different art styles. Devs like Fromsoft create games that are far from the most graphically intensive but their art team carries them so damn hard its ridiculous. Or consider how memorable games like Hotline Miami are even though they would technically be considered pretty ugly by most standards.
