Wednesday S2E08 Watch A Long

Hey Peaches! With Dort out of the way it's time to finish this whole Slurp thing. What is the link between the Addams family and Issac Night? And will every member of the Addams family survive?

Maybe I’m just simple but I liked this season also and am looking forward to the third season.😃

Also - Tim Burton has a thing for the mad scientist oeuvre. The clockwork heart and stop motion in the first episode was the clue to the main storyline. Look at Edward Scissorhands and Frankenweenie. Look at the dude from Nightmare Before Christmas making his creations. Heck, most of his stuff has some mad scientist in it somewhere, even if not the main plot point. He was gonna put one in there somewhere, gloves and goggles and crazy machine and all!

Doubt anyone will read this long comment now that it’s been awhile and people have moved on but here we go: I’ve now watched the whole season on its own and then as a rewatch with you guys, and I really encourage you to rewatch alone (if you haven’t already) outside of the content videos and on a slower cadence. There’s a lot that you can miss while reacting and commenting, including some of the threads you’ve criticized. (Literally just finished the season finale tonight with my family and then watched the last three episodes with you immediately after.) THAT SAID, I definitely agree that this suffered a little bit from both trying to tie up old plot lines while world building and setting up the next season(s). Morning Song should have been this whole season and the Galpin storyline the next, if we are keeping with an eight episode season run. They spent time setting up both last season, but with Tyler in confinement it would have made sense to leave him there for a bit while they finished Morning Song off with a full season first. They also set up the Galpin storyline, which would have made sense for season three. I have a few guesses and overall thoughts on why this felt so rushed or smushed while still being overall a good and entertaining season: 1. Filming schedules for Ricci, Christie, and Buscemi (and possibly Zeta-Jones). Severance and Yellowjackets both had filming during this time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2. Pugsley and Eugene’s encroaching puberty making the zombie storyline necessary to fast track after Buscemi signed on for the morning song storyline (couldn’t wait any longer for pugsley to join nevermore) 3. Filming issues for location, as their location is in Croatia (serving for Vermont, as it’s a similar landscape but has the castle that is Nevermore and the fake town they built to be Jericho outside of it). It’s… a little tense there at the moment? 😬 They may have had to speed up any Nevermore-based filming due to that whole pesky war thing happening nearby. Which also explains school-based storylines being smushed together. 4. There was an actor and writer strike in the middle of the two seasons. Hence the sped up puberty and also the escalated war situation. 5. While it did get a bit muddled in the middle, in hindsight after two viewings, it actually all did come together pretty well at the end. We also have a pretty killer setup for next season, with some clear threads to follow that we know in advance: Enid, Tyler and Capri coming to terms with Wednesday saving him and his existence as a Hyde (he has never gotten over his feelings for her) + his mother’s betrayal & sacrifice, the fact that the birds are still surrounding the gravestone of an Addams + that crow showing up again at the end, and of course Ophelia. All of these are now storylines we KNOW have to be addressed, so there’s no surprise on any of them next time. 6. This entire series overall suffers from the dumb thing television seems to have defaulted to these days of only having 6-10 episodes total. This show would do so well if we had a good old-fashioned 20-24 episode season like we did back in the days of Xena and Buffy and Supernatural. Frankly: bring back the full season so you don’t feel like you have to tell a whole year’s story in half a year.
