Now Jay has seen it and has some feelings about it. Adam, has never seen it, but only knows the pop culture moments. Does Jay's opinion change, and how does Adam respond when he learns the context of those famous moments?

Late to the party but this is a favourite of ours and watch it every Christmas. Totally get that some of the stories feel a little part cooked, but the whole idea is that love comes in many forms, young love (Sam), unrequited love (the poster cards), lust (USA trip), inappropriate love (affair), Love of Duty (Emma T), new love (Watson), Love at first sight (France), Platonic love (Rock star), and then the typical romcom love of Hugh Grant... I think that's them all. So yeah not all are necessarily happy, but most of them are a fair reflection of life, very typical style of British comedy films around this time, a bit more grounded and sometimes darker than a hollywood romcom. Thanks for listening to my ted talk... Similar movie recommendation and is an all time classic is "Four Weddings and a Funeral".

2025-06-01 22:50:30 +0000 UTCYeah, I have a lot of issues with this movie. There's several nice little subplots as well as a lot of bad ones. Personally I'm only really invested in the Emma Thompson and Laura Linney subplots, and they get short-changed by the movie, imo.

During the movie Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson crack a lot of jokes about Claudia Schiffer (a supermodel). The mom he meets at the end, played by Claudia Schiffer. Not quite Kate Winslet playing herself but still a fun fact
