about slang: as someone who is gen z it's safe to say at least like 1/3 of what's considered slang in standard english vernacular is really just african american english, which is a different language entirely. "what's the tea," "no cap," and "rizz," are all examples of that. what i've seen is that because of the internet, you can see what anyone says and view any conversation from people across the world, therefore people who aren't african american have had more access than usual to conversations between people who are. and from there people just pick up random words or phrases and incorporate it in standard english. it reminds me of the way you'll hear "hola" or "sayonara" randomly in conversations with people from the US who absolutely don't speak spanish or japanese.
