Hey Peaches! At long last, we finally watched Blue Beetle. Thank you so much for your patience as we worked through the back log of all the content that came out. This poor movie. Spoiler, we enjoyed it. Unfortunately the timing for this movie couldn't have been worse. Came out during the SAG strike, and after James Gunn took over, scrapping everything. We still had a great time watching it, and we hope you enjoy spending a couple hours with us with this fun movie.

This movie is a ton of fun and I was surprised how shockingly political parts of it are. the moment that had me going “Oh they are going there” is when they said Carapax was trained at the School of the Americas, which is a real-life notorious place where the US government trained South American and Central American torturers and dictators. This is one of the times the “villain and the hero have the same powers” I think it works because it draws parallels between the two characters which I feel was why Carapax ultimately did what he did. We have this young Latino/Indigenous person being turned into a weapon of American imperialism and once he sees it starting again with Jaime and Jaime shows him mercy he decides to break the cycle Combine that with Jaime’s grandmother maybe being a Zapatista or some other leftist Mexican guerrilla, and this movie had a political streak I was not expecting and I think went over done people's heads
