2024-02-10 00:22:09 +0000 UTCBook 1 definitely moves more slowly than 2 and 3, but you guys hit it on the head: a lot of the beginning is getting Aang through some of his character journey. He’s a 12-year-old kid who never wanted this in the first place, and already escaped his duties by running away once before. What’s to say he couldn’t run away & avoid the problem a second time? That’s what he’s got to get over, and what these first several episodes point toward.
