But! for some non-bean fun facts: Moundville, AL (where I'm 98% sure that scene takes place) is just a few minutes south of the University of Alabama. There were other sites in AL, but if it’d be anywhere, it’d be Moundville. Laaarge Mississippian culture mound city (second only to Cahokia, iirc). Archaeologists believe it was home to something like 10k people in its vicinity at its height, one of the biggest cities around at the time. Several modern tribes have ancestral ties to it, not just the Choctaw. Still an active archaeological site, administered by the University.
