Moon Knight S1E04 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! Make sure you keep your hands and feet inside the cart for the entirety of the ride, cause we're going on a roller coaster baa-baby! Steven, Marc, and Layla have to find Ammet before the bad guys, and they have to navigate a spooky, haunted tomb to do it. And that is simple part. After that, things. Get. Weird. Prepare yourselves, for you are not ready for the end of this episode.

By the way, I didn't know Hathor took a hippo form in Egyptian mythology. I just knew her as a cow. Perhaps this means that it is her at the end of the episode after all (even though everyone keeps saying it must be Taweret )? (Which I just now realized is what you're implying in the first place) The sun disk above her head certainly seems to imply that, since afaik that's not a thing for Taweret, just Hathor. If that is the case, then it's just brilliant writing I must say - send everyone on a wild goose chase based on that hippo form, and then it turns out it was Hathor all along. Man, I can't wait for the next episode to find out.

Nah, Taweret was not at the gathering. But neither should have been Hathor, as she is not a member of the Ennead. I suppose Marvel likes to take their liberties when it comes to mythology, as evidenced by their take on Norse gods.

It might be inaccurate when it comes to DID, but it could be a nice touch when it comes to this show - you see, Steven seems to be the representation of Layla's dad for Marc, and the third identity might represent the guy who killed him, Marc's partner.

I second the motion of checking out Legion. It's a brilliant show. If not for anything else, then at the very least it's a visual feast.

By the way, to be more accurate, it wasn't Hathor herself who gave Marc the clue, but her avatar.

Rene Aavik

Yeah I initially thought it was Hathor myself, as her animal spirit is a cow, which looks somewhat similar to a hippo (also the sun disk above her head is her thing as well). But the goddess of rebirth would make more sense.

Thanks for the tip. I've used CBD as a sleep aid in the past, but always found it lacking in that aspect. Good to know there are better alternatives.

One day, you both should check out Legion on FX. Not any time soon I'm sure, but some day. That show pulls off this trope more effectively than anything else I've seen. That's part of why this ending was pretty meh for me too. I've seen this done before, and a lot better. At least they kept it brief and had a good twist at the end. There's no way any of us would buy that this whole story was just a delusion.

The Hippo god is Taweret, which probably will be represented as an ally of Hathor if not Hathor herself as they share the same domain. Hathor was the woman who helped Moon Knight in the meeting.

Loved this episode! I still really hope they don't go the route of the third alter being evil as it's quite an inaccurate trope to DID, can't wait for when he gets out the coffin and is really angry at Marc and Steven for leaving him in there though xD. Great reaction as always!

BTW... cannabis dispensary employee here... Delta8 can definitely make you sleepy. Inhaling Delta8 can make you drowsy in roughly 15minutes but eating it can have a more potent effect and you wont really feel it for a few hours... sometimes as long as 4-5 hours. I use CBN to help me sleep. It is a form of CBD but it is geared more toward sleep aid verse pain relief. And there is no THC in CBN in case you want a non intoxicating sleep aid. Delta8 is great for micro dosing as the THC is far less potent in Delta8 verse Delta9. Happy 420 guys!

Man, Egyptian deities are so complicated! The woman Marc met at the gathering was the avatar of Hathor, who is usually depicted with a cow's head. The hippo is Taweret - and Taweret is the goddess of protection and rejuvination/birth/rebirth. So it makes sense that maybe she's there to revive Marc(?) I don't think Taweret was in the gathering of gods we saw earlier, and nothing so far established any relationship between her and Khonshu. But in some late-period myths, Hathor sometimes appears in hippo form. Egyptian canon is more convoluted than Star Wars extended universe. Anyway... I agree that she (whoever she is) is the gimmick that helps Marc get back. But I also sense there's a twist coming from this that we don't really expect. I'm also wondering if at the end of this series, Moon Knight *doesn't* destroy Ammet, and MCU saves that for Gorr(?)
