Turning Red Watch Along

Hey Peaches! It's been a slow month for new content, but Jay and I have been hard at work, behind the scenes, working on getting our new Podcast up and running, AND putting the pieces together for our upcoming D&D content. The podcast will be coming out sooner than the D&D, and we'll let you know once we have more concrete info for when to expect it.

But fear not the content is coming, a lot of it, and soon. Starting next week (with Halo) and picking up steam as we go (Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, The Boys, Obi-Wan....), the next 3 months are going to be busy.  Sooooooo......we thought it would be fun to do a watch along of the new Pixar film Turning Red for y'all. And since it's a coming of age story of a young girl set in 2003, we thought it would be good to have a lady who just happened to be a young coming of age girl in 2003, so Jay's wife Kimberly joins us for this Watch Along.  Join us for the laughs, the dancing, and the tears as we watch Turning Red.

And once again thank you for supporting us Peaches, this community truly is the best!

What a treat to have Kim there! loved watching this with you guys. I watched it earlier with the family, but had to see it again just to see your reactions. Plus having Kim there was an added bonus! cant wait for the tsunami of content coming with Halo, Moon Knight, etc;!

Scott Klages

This was a lot of fun!, but now I want to see the movie Turning Alabaster 😂

Joey (Hustlemando)

This was such a great surprise and so much fun to watch! Having Kimberly there was a real treat. Thanks for this!

Jennifer Leveck

Haha. Thank you. I thought it was funny. 😁

This was awesome. My absolut favorite has to be: the most emotional scene and Adam hands out toilet paper. Made me laugh so hard.

Ikomena

i am so excited to rewatch this with the watchalong. thank you for this!!

Connie Tsang

This was just delightful! Both the movie and the reaction. Nice to have Kimberly’s perspective as well.

Noël Gardner

Something you may have missed: Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas were a big part of the music writing. Also, the grandmother was Madame Gao in the Netflix Marvel tv shows.

William Timmins

Did not know this was coming, and am happy it is! My kids have been watching this near nonstop the last week, but I'll gladly watch again "with" the three of you!

Alexander Kramer

I love the three of you together!

William Timmins

Watched it tonight, its fabulous. Don't get the "controversy" that's infected the intertubeweb.

Every time I watch a Pixar movie and cry, I think, "I'll be able to watch this again without crying". And EVERY TIME! I cry again! To the point that when it was almost to the end with the mom, Isaac goes "oh I remember this. You and Jay and Kimberly are gonna cry. Me and Adam aren't. Watch." He was right. Stinker.

Breanna Williams

if you use the boom mic in the future the sound is really quiet compared to your other mics

quirkygeekgirl

Watched it today with kiddo. We loved it.

Mylène Laperle Vanasse

I have nothing in common with Meilin, absolutely adored her and felt for her. LOVED this movie, and got to watch it with one of my kids (who is 13!)

William Timmins

This was really fun to watch as a first time patron! :) Very cute movie, loved watching it "with" you all... and Kimberly, I can't believe you didn't wear that red panda shirt! lol (I'm Spiffypop/SpiffyAlly from discord btw)

Allison Weaver

Seeing Kimberly snuggling with Jay is the cutest, and she was the perfect guest for this watch along!

This would definitely be good for a double feature with Inside Out as the lead-in. I think technically a tween is 9-13 years old, and they're just starting to like boys, etc but aren't in the full throes of puberty yet. Riley from Inside Out qualifies as a tween because she's 11. But Mei is definitely on the cusp of full teenhood at 13.

OMG I cannot express how excited I am for this watch along. As a Toronto resident and how I loved this movie, I can't wait for your reaction.

quirkygeekgirl

Ahh this was a lovely saturday treat! Also, you two are the cutest couple :]

Jenna Antonelli

to answer your question, Luca would be the boy version of a tween coming of age movie by pixar done just before. Also Straight to streaming i believe.

So... I might have quoted Jay "Why is she a red Panda?! I love it." Several times watching this with my nephews last weekend ... after I watched it by myself. As a Canadian from Toronto, I very much identify with being 13, having a crush on cute guys and wanting to sneak out to the skydome. (For sports, I too don't like live music).
