I grew up religious. So probably there were movies my parents didn't want me to watch. But they never had talks with me "Don't watch this because I said so". And I grew up with Premium Cable. So there were definitely movies I shouldn't have watched that I did. Forbidden fruit is a thing. And I try to make an effort if there's something age inappropriate for family I sometimes babysit. I make the effort to explain why they are not to watch certain movies. And I try to respect their parents wishes. I don't need to ask them about Hell Raiser and The Exorcist. But if their mom doesn't want them watching Barbie or Inside Out 2. I'm okay with them waiting until their older. Ages 8 and 6. Their still working on fully watching Star Wars Episodes 4-6. They have seen episode 1.

My Mom was the one who had the list of movies I was too young to watch and my Dad was the one who would often let me and my brother watch them with him. One of them was Batman (1989) which came out when I was 7 so there were probably a few scenes that might have been a bit too violent but I know I probably watched a lot of raunchy comedies from the 70s and 80s with my Dad that I was probably too young to watch.
