Way back when we had barely started the script and didn't quite have any of our marketing together, I had an epiphany moment where I decided on the art direction of Doting Dominatrix.
For me, games are about escapism. There's no shame in it. I knew I needed to take this chance to create a world I'd always dreamed of being able to step into, but would never have the chance to experience. For me, that world was 80s Hong Kong and it's vibrate, chaotic atmosphere. I yearned to find myself at the mercy of The Pearl of the Orient and drown myself in the endless vices as shimmering lights heartlessly watched my essence fade away. But alas, that world had disappeared long before I was able to touch it, opening a void in my soul that would never fade.
But even if voids can't be filled, they can bridged. Slowly, but surely, we can build a path where our endless yearning can gaze safely into the void. Here, we can dream of, but never touch, the glory of the past.
