Big news and Mirage update
Added 2021-06-13 00:51:18 +0000 UTCThis is a very exciting update for me. I'll cut to the chase, I have found a way to completely remove load times from my scene transitions. No more merge loading, just smooth seamless transitions.

I spent 2 days since the first Mirage early access polishing and refining the animations and I thought the scene was done. I was just about to release it to the public when I had a revelation. I realised that the new Timeline alpha allowed me to record my morph animations (fingers and mouth movement) direct to Timeline instead of relying on plugins running live in the scene. This was huge because in one go it removed a whole host of limitations and allowed me to think about how my animations and scene progressions worked from the ground up.
3 days later and I had a fully working prototype and I could then rebuild Mirage in the new system, now without a single loading screen in sight.
Not only does this new system work flawlessly, it fits perfectly with my existing workflow and even removes several limiting factors in animation complexity. I can now make scenes with effectively unlimited progression and scene transitions and I can build scenes faster than I ever could before.
This is how things will be from now on since I can also apply this same technique to my dialogue based scenes.
Mirage has had many more rounds of polishing in the past week and pretty much every animation has either been heavily tweaked or completely redone. I've been gradually honing my Timeline technique to make the animations and transitions as smooth and believable as I can. The scene will be released to the public very soon but I wanted to get it out to you guys so you could see it first and to give you the lowdown on what has changed since the first version.
Also a big thank you to Hazmhox for some new dust effects built especially for this scene, they are quite subtle but if you look out over the landscape you can see some nice dust clouds billowing across the ground.
There is one additional VAR dependency since the first release which is for the plugin needed to configure the new dust effect:

Thank you for your support!

Hi, you can open up the Timeline plugins on the characters then in the Edit tab adjust the speed for each animation. I haven't tried this but I believe if you save your own copy of the scene it will keep your changes for you.

2021-12-05 00:04:40 +0000 UTCI loved this scene. When I saw the button that dropped down thumbnails of other scenes/positions that loaded without a scene change I knew it was something special. Keep up the great work, you've earned a subscriber.

2021-06-13 11:51:45 +0000 UTCThat's great news and I can't wait to check out seemless transitions. This is an amazing scene, however, the story driven Space Force gave me so much more immersion. Any chance of bringing out Space Force with this new transition as well? Love your work. It's amazing.
