SEUS PTGI E4 Release!
Added 2019-01-07 15:23:32 +0000 UTC
SEUS PTGI E4 is finally here! Sorry for the wait! But, I think it'll be worth it, this one's a big one.
My goal with this update was to take the first steps in getting SEUS PTGI ready for gameplay. Many effects have been fixed and added from the main version of SEUS, though, the main focus of this update was getting world-space ray traced reflections in. What's Minecraft without water, what's water without reflections, and why do reflections the old screen-space way when we can do it with the world-space data that's there!
That being said, there's still a lot of work to do in polishing these things up and improving performance. Check out the "Raytracing Options" screen in the shader options if you're looking for an fps speedup. Tracing reflections is expensive, so don't expect this version to run as well as E3 when you've got lots of reflective or semi-reflective surfaces in-view!
If you're a texture artist, check out the "For Texture Artists" section on this page, the texture layout is still the same here.
Here's the most noteworthy changes for this version:
- Torches now contribute to GI (and reflections)
- Lava now contributes to GI, but it's still a little buggy
- Water, stained glass, and ice rendering! Still a work-in-progress
- World-space reflections on water, stained glass, and ice, as well as any block with the right specular map
- GI now blends into Minecraft's lighting when out of range, no more ugly distant lighting artifacts
- Proper rain lighting with correct GI
- Added rain ripple efect
- Added wetness effect when raining
- Added auto-exposure
- Added raytracing performance/quality options
- Added atmospheric scattering fog for distant terrain
- GI reprojection improved, artifacts and blurring reduced
- Normal map support is back in, with normal maps affecting GI and reflections
- Added translucent GI on leaves
- Fixed buggy clouds
- Diffuse GI filter tweaks
- Fixed bug in diffuse GI tracing that caused light leaking
- Improved accuracy of GI from sunlight
The requirements for running this shaderpack are as follows:
- Minecraft 1.12.2 (no 1.13 support yet)
- OptiFine 1.12.2 HD U E2
- Options > Video Settings > Details > Alternate Blocks: OFF
- Options > Video Settings > Details > Trees: Fancy or Fast (Smart will break lighting)
- Options > Video Settings > Quality > Natural Textures: OFF
- Options > Video Settings > Shaders > Shadow Quality: 1x
- Options > Video Settings > Shaders > Old Lighting : DEFAULT
- A resource pack with NO CUSTOM BLOCK MODELS (if there are custom block models in a resource pack being used, it will break lighting)
This shaderpack may work on older Minecraft versions, however compatibility is not guaranteed.
It is recommended that you run this shaderpack at 1080p or lower, since frame rate will drop dramatically as the game resolution increases.
Lastly, I wanted to thank you all for your support! Not just for the obvious reasons; we've got some great people here who have been supportive and kind through hard times. You're the best!
And don't forget to provide feedback in the Discord server! See you there!

2019-01-09 00:45:49 +0000 UTCAuthor, why do I blink with your E4 shadow for about 5 minutes? The client must be restarted to solve this problem. Light and shadow effect is very good, quite beautiful, that is, from time to time the screen flashing is very uncomfortable.
