People who hit their kids do so because it makes them feel good to use someone they see as “lesser” as a literal punching bag instead of developing some emotional maturity. These are the same people who say “I was hit as a kid and I turned out fine.” No, mister, you were abused and now look forward to abusing someone else the way pavlov’s dogs look forward to the sound of a bell.
