I think and this is only IMHO that you're treating this story a bit too serious... i think that trying to apply all possible real world bdsm rules without bending any to this fictional universe is a faul&miss ;) and to me it appears that there are higher chances for the opposite... Emma whipping her mother just to wake her up... cause she's not the same dom mother who Emma remembers from before her illness YET... she (Emma) handled the conflict between Julia and Emily "like a real pro" while Patricia looked kinda lost... and no i am not implying that you should change your judgment on this... enjoy this story whatever you like... i am just saying that i see some things a bit different ;)
