If you are new here, you need to know how Patreon works and how it charges you.
I know it shouldn't be my job telling you this but I'm hoping this message can help you avoid getting overcharged and can also spur Patreon towards clarifying this aspect more to a person who is about to join.
You are charged the day you join and also on the first day of every month!
This is very important because if you join when the month is about to end (for example on the 28th), you'll be charged again 3 days later for the following month.
In other words, if you're looking to join and the month is about to end, you should know that you're only buying access for a couple of days before having to pay again. You're better off waiting a little and joining when the month starts so you get a full month of access.
If you find yourself in this situation, there isn't much that you can do.
- Cancelling your pledge will prevent the next charge but it would still mean having paid for a full month of content and only accessing it for a few days.
- Refunds only hurt the creator because you pay the pledge plus taxes and I receive your pledge minus fees. So in the end I'd need to refund you more than I got and you'd still get less than what you paid, because taxes are not refunded.
