Before I begin toiling with the build up pages and conclusion of "The Chosen One," which I'm still having to retool, I shall address just a few inquiries I've seen floating around. Shit is strange, bear with me.
1. Vivian has absolutely no clue what Ellie is, despite everyone around her having suspicions that Ellie harbors a deeply troubling secret, and is much, much more than a somewhat odd prodigious cellist. She has interacted with her only a handful of times primarily in professional settings, and of course in City Park on her time off. The premier services of Cerburus Security (Vivian and her veteran JJ's team), and The Velluto Quartet, (Eli, Ellie, Larry, and Chet) are often sought out together for a variety of functions ranging from private drug fueled rooftop parties for the elite to celebrity weddings. When not forcefully removing a stray gutter punk from the perimeter of Bryan Cranston's luxury suite or shredding Tchaikovsky, the two bond in the downtime over the vulgarity and callousness of their clients.
2. In the 130 years of Ellie's existence as an alleged "vampire," she has never turned anyone nor has attempted. Every victim is a meal. It's not known if this is because she is unwilling or unable. Eli theorizes her unsual abilities have rendered her "impotent" in this regard, with the independent spire or "fang" used for the task of creating other vampires either missing or trapped under flesh in her jaw. However, as interpreted by the Dauphine coven, her exceptional infatuation with Vivian could be the subconscious desire to "recruit" a ruthless human in peak physical condition and in the prime of her life. It's determined the probability of Viv becoming prey is low. Rivaling covens monitor new potential members, and will hunt humans of interest, including Vivian. In response, the Dauphine coven later is forced to provide protection for Vivian, a move she remains oblivious to as she continues to grapple with her identity and addictions, though she will eventually transition from profound ignorance to acute skepticism, and hijinks ensue.
3. I have no plans for Vivian to be captured, turned, killed, or devoured. She has her own level of imperviousness, much like the indestructible population of cockroaches inhabiting the city. She is sickly but powerful in her own right, and her encounters with Ellie will only grow more and more precarious. How it all concludes is unknown to me, only that there will be carnage.

What's funny is I stop and start on something like this all of the time, eventually leaning more into the comics slowly unpacking each as they arrive and interact with each other. There's a lot going on in them that connects each comic as well. I drop things like this on the Patreon on occasion because I know for sure it will be things that will be discussed in the comics eventually. Whether or not I will do concrete character refs I haven't decided. I prefer a slow burn.

2023-07-29 16:19:39 +0000 UTCAny chance you'd do a page with a picture of each character and a small blurb about them? Just as a reference.
