Jesus Christ this is a phenomenal assessment of my own subconscious handling of this drawing. Fucking spot on, goddamn, dude. One of the things about a drawing like this is it's important to maintain the canon and motivations of the characters beyond it being a little fan servicy, and it appears I've nailed it. Thanks so much for this thoughtful insight, I live for comments like this.

2023-06-12 19:14:28 +0000 UTCSo let’s start with the color of the background. It’s positively *arterial.* It speaks on so much to the passion, the desire, and the danger of the attraction. I’ve unfortunately seen fresh and free bleeding wounds a few times in my life and, especially to the top of the piece, that color is spot on. Excellent use of tone and blending. It feels like it’s pulsing and about to run off the edge of page (I suppose much like their lust). Next is the depth of volume on Ellie’s hair. It’s downright voluminous. For how “flat” digital art is sometimes disparaged as and considering I’m looking at this on an iPhone 8, I’m amazed. It looks like I’d need a machete and a scout to get through it. The posing tells a story as well. Take Ellie, pulling Vivian in with her hands but still leaning back, not committing until the very last second. She loves the game, the hunt. She wants to feel wanted. She needs to be seen, for someone else to acknowledge her in her space and as a person, alive. Context to her relationships and nature reveals these details but even from the outside looking in, she’s teasing and making Viv cross the center line. Her skirt is hiked but she still has (biking? compression?) shorts on, layers under layers to keep people at bay until she’s ready to engage. Also a skintight, dark layer in case she needs to make a speedy and hasty change of clothes lol On that note, Vivian with her squared shoulders and firm wraparound grasp, has no subtly in her once she’s made the decision. She’s possessing the moment and almost confronting Ellie. Vivian, with her bandaged fingers and busted knuckles, still keeping the tie on after work, keeping the sleeves down. It’s her dragonscale armor, her nails as talons and red as burning blood. I can’t tell if it’s just the design but it also looks like Ellie’s not quite ready to close her eyes in this embrace. She’s waiting for the dagger in the back. That’s what I see, anyway. A frozen moment about to melt through the ice. Also, like damn, what are Viv’s eyebrows, like vanta black or something? Lmao
