Time to Play! (Complete)

A bit delayed, apologies to regular followers here who are also patrons!

Starting a new one today, as the one I was working on after this had to be backburnered for a very strange reason. I'll update soon.

Thank you so much! It took me a while to get that style of coloring to look right over time, it always came out kind of muddy when I first experimented with it. All in photoshop, It's a combination of super controlled brushstrokes on my end, with moderate randomization from the brush settings themselves, layers upon layers with pure texture brushes in some cases, super limited gradients, and also just understanding how the colors of the lines themselves interact with the subject and BG colors. My comics have a very similar feel to my traditional paintings which has always been my end goal. I achieve the same in traditional with lots and lots of sand paper, layering, and odd color combos. So glad you appreciate it!

One thing I really love about your comics is how incredibly detailed your backgrounds are (the house exterior in P&C part one is a gorgeous example), but even when the back is a single color, they always have that hand painted look, and it always looks amazing. These here look like someone rolled up blue paint unevenly on a wall, Elk’s background in the 2 million subs comic almost looks like the surface of the sun. Do you actually go and “hand paint” these in your image editor, or do you have a process to make it easier/more streamlined?
