Sir Anthony Blunt was an Art Historian and member of MI5 who spied for the Russians for two decades. He was for 35 years the Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures. He confessed to being a traitor in 1964, he may have been responsible for the failure to take the bridge at Arnham. The Nazis were passed the plans by the Russians to prevent western allies reaching Berlin first. His guilt was concealed by the establishment and for 15 years he continued in his royal role. That ended in 1979 when the new Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher publicly denounced him and stripped him of his Knighthood and job. He died 3 years later. So that was very topical when this series was made.
