Im glad those bands and others got some shine thanks to Tame Impala. Itâs a gateway band, and a pretty good one too. Other good gateway bands include Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground, Outcast, and Weird Al.
2022-10-08 21:40:31 +0000 UTCMaybe this doesn't make sense, but it's kind of a bummer that the popularity of Tame Impala hasn't seemed to prompt many people to check out more psych-pop bands from the last few decades*--The Flaming Lips, Animal Collective, Spiritualized, etc.--that aren't quite as popular but maybe a little more inventive. I think Kate Bush's resurgence also underscores that a lot of people are interested in the more exploratory side of pop, but for whatever reason, it seems like a lot of landmark psych-pop bands go under the radar. *just an observation based on spotify numbers + personal experience
2022-09-29 01:59:36 +0000 UTCJoy Division is arguably the most overrated band among critics. Their music, while not awful, is incredibly rudimentary and in certain moments (like Ian Curtisâ vocals at the end of âDisorderâ) the band sounds amateurish, like theyâre learning how to play their instruments on the spot. And all respect to Ian Curtis for his lyrics, but he was a pretty awful singer objectively. Not only is New Order a better, more successful band than Joy Division, but Interpol fucking BODIED Joy Division on their debut album. How can they be one of the greatest bands ever when people can do their own style better than they did? Theyâre overrated as hell.

2022-09-27 02:24:33 +0000 UTCWeezer's debut is pretty good, but pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, is the real deal. It is more experimental, and more risky with better lyrics, and you can see pavement's influence on Blue Album.

2022-09-22 07:18:06 +0000 UTCPutting Nicki Minaj in your top 55 rappers list of all time but not Dr Dre amongst others, should be more criticized on.

2022-09-20 04:58:10 +0000 UTCSo I seen you give your praises to Big Daddy Kane and Biz but what are your thoughts on projects from other Juice Crew members like Masta Ace and Kool G Rap?

2022-09-16 18:43:17 +0000 UTCThey Might Be Giants are the most prolific, idiosyncratic, and BEST pop duo of all time, and deserve much more credit than they receive. Not to mention how forward thinking they were in terms of marketing back in the day with Dial-a-Song and their early embrace of the internet. My favorite band of all time, would love to see a classic review of your favorite TMBG record! I'm assuming Lincoln?
