I think Headspace is finally ready for Steam Release!

PHEW, it was a lot harder than I was expecting, but I think everything about Headspace is finally ready to go public on Steam! The game is still going to be in its unfinished state, so I'm going to set it as a "Free-to-Play" game, but I took some time to add in the final location on the map, "Loops Hospital"!

I wanted to have the Nurses as NPCs in the game as a way to point players towards my Patreon if they'd like to see more of my art, and I even managed to add some of my comics into the game as unlockables that you can find hidden around the map!

And yes... I DID end up adding a way for you to get Veronica to flash her boobies:

But since the whole game is free, THIS secret is only unlockable for Patrons. Lucky you! 😋 And speaking of unlockable secrets, it took two whole days to figure out, but I FINALLY got this specific functionality working....

STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS, BABY! I really wanted to add little achievements for all those silly, hidden interactions in the game, but since this game was made in RPG Maker MV, actually getting the game to communicate with Steamworks was extremely complicated. Seriously - there's tons of different guides online and all of them have different methods to try getting it to work, and there's no way of knowing which ones are now obsolete. I had almost completely given up when I playtested one more time and the little achievement notification finally blooped up, so I'm expertly pleased that it's finally working as intended!

All that's left now is for both the game and my Steam Store page to be reviewed, and then if they're OK with it, the "Coming Soon" page on Steam will finally be publicly viewable (it has to be "Coming Soon", because when a game gets greenlit, there's a waiting period of two weeks before the game can be downloadable):

It took a lot of work, but it's finally over! Even though the game never got "truly" completed, I'm psyched to be able to share it with the rest of the lewd-gaming community. I poured a lot of heart and soul into Headspace! Honestly, it was pretty nice to go through all my old assets and remember all the goofy stuff I added. If I was ever going to make a Veronica and Mona game, I think re-visiting Headspace was a nice refresher course on all the things I have to be aware of during development.

As fun as it was messing around with Headspace again, it was also a reminder of why I had to stop development in the first place: it's really time-consuming! The more complex the game becomes, the more likely errors pop-up, the more bugtesting involved, and the harder it gets to keep track of every switch/variable. I'm honestly surprised there was a time when I was able to juggle both the game and the comics 😵‍💫

For now, assuming everything goes well with the Steam review, I think I can finally put Headspace to rest. I appreciate your patience this past week while I was getting the game polished up for release! After spending all these hours sifting through game code, getting back to drawing silly booba comics sounds like a breath of fresh air lol
