Edit: As always, here's the fully colored version for comparison. Thanks for your support!
Now, here's the lineart for all of Diamond Lil's versions.
She is one of the lesser known contestants but it is good to have her representing Canada's most famous superhero teams. Let's hope she ends up in one of the top places!
Production notes:
For Lillian, I used her first appeareanc ine Alpha Flight (1983) as reference. The artist is none other than John Byrne, and I think I did a decent job of emulating his style. It was very tricky since he drew Lil as a very big woman, but without defined muscles, so I had to use an illustration of Hulk to see how to emphasize her musculature.
I tried to use her costume as reference for the bikini, but it has these weird diamond shapes (ooooohhh, so that is why she is called Diamond) so I'll only use the colors. I included her mask and I gotta admit that I like when I can incorporate some part of the super costume like this.
My real life model for the poses is Hunter Henderson, who I just knew about when searching for references. I liked the way her poses seem very confident and that translated perfectly to Ms. Crawley, here.
Seems like Lil was exercising before the contest and got very thirsty. It might not seem like it now, but pouring water that way will have unexpected consequences. You'll have to wait for the Figure division to find out what I'm talking about.
As always, let me know your thoughts on this in the comments!
