Edit: As always, here's the fully colored version for comparison. Thanks for your support!
For your viewing pleasure, none other than Vengeance from the DC Comics side of this contest. This bad girl is ready to walk over the other competitors and take back home the first place. Let's hope there are no broke backs, but the good thing is that there are a lot more heroines to stop her from going overboard!
Production notes:
Vengeance is a very recent character, her origin dating back to 2021 and I, for one, didn't know about her existence until I got some suggestions from Aron Orson for participants. Since she is very new, there's a decent amount of image references and they all look similar in style, so I didn't have that many options. That being said, what I found looked very nice and it was done by Guillem March, a Spanish artist with a very interesting style.
Her bikini was designed after her only suit from the comics and it'll basically only be colored black with white borders. She's apparently wearing her gloves even in the stage. Seems like some ladies don't like to part with ther gloves.
The real life model for Vengeance is my favorite FBB, Theresa Ivancik. I have been a fan of her since about 2013, when she started gaining muscle mass and she has progressed immensely over the years. Even this year, she ended up 1st in the IFBB Triple O Dynasty Pro. And for the stage version, I decided on another back pose. I wanted to do another front pose at first, but then I found this image of Vengeance and, well... I know you'll appreciate it.
It seems that Vengeance is preparing for her contest like Carol Danvers, but is instead using a metal bar to show off her strength. I figured, since she doesn't have the benefit of super strength other contestants have, she's compensating by being overly intense in her preparations. And yes, she's wearing her coat, since I love longcoats. I also liked Bane's desing in TDKR and love the fact that it influenced his design in the comics.
I would also like to add that I was very worried about this contest, since I knew that some comic book artist put a lot more detail in ther art than their japanese or animation counterparts (I always pictured MJ's 90s harido and got exhausted just thinking about drawing it) and I didn't know if I wanted to put any effort in detailing the contestants as much. But I have to admit it has been a very fun and educational process and I can only say it has improved my work.
As always, let me know your thoughts on this in the comments!
