Edit: Just wanted to share the fully colored version with you all. Thanks for your support!
At last, here we have all 3 versions of Ms. Marvel. I had a tough time with her since I couldn't get her to look similar in the 3rd one, but I think she turned out all right. I guessed that, given her past experience as a pilot and her general demeanor, she would be getting this competition very seriously, which you can see in her poses and the fact that she is preparing for her grand entrance in the backstage version.
Production notes:
I used the style of Frank Cho as a basis for Carol. Whenever I think of Ms. Marvel, the first image on my mind is this famous cover by Frank and he does draw her with quite an impressive physique. I just emphasized her musculature more since, as I already mentioned, Carol would be taking this very seriously.
Her bikini is inspired by one of her most famous outfits, the Warbird suit, and my personal favorite, followed closely by her first outfit. At first, I wanted to draw her using the mask that makes her eyes look all Batman-like (I ignore if there's an actual name for white eyes like that) but I decided to make her eyes fully visible.
My reference model for this was Kris Murrel and I used photos from 2009 competitions. It is impressive how different things were back then but the women still looked amazing.
As for the backstage version, Carol is using the rubber bands to get her muscles up to shape before stepping out to the stage. I even drew a very subtle vein in her forearm, something I don't normally do since I can't make it look appealing. In this case, I think it does look good and makes her look more focused on the matter at hand.
As always, let me know your thougts on this in the comments!
