A look back at previous versions of the phase

The new version of TKA is still in development, so I apologise for not having any new content to post in the meantime.

Kathleen suggested that I post versions of TKA's phases, and guys can look back at how TKA has evolved.

TKA was developed with Unreal Engine 5 at the beginning, but because UE5 was very unstable at that time, we encountered a lot of problems. We were forced to migrate TKA to UE4 in a month or so last summer, and version 0.4.2 was the last version to be developed in UE5.

As you'll notice, TKA's gameplay mechanics changed a lot during the course of development. At first my idea was to make a slow-paced horror puzzle game with relatively few combat sections. Sort of similar to Haydee2.

Gradually during the development process we realised that killing zombies feels great. Different weapons can bring different combat experiences, and different types of zombies can bring different combat strategies. So as this part of the game progressed, TKA's combat mechanics were constantly enhanced.

Like you guys, I really like Resident Evil, I also like Left 4 Dead, The Elder Scrolls 5 and Insurgency: sandstorm, and many more games. So I've always wanted to make a game that combines the features of these games, but is different. Pretty girls, dressing up, killing zombies, storytelling, little puzzles, these elements are in this game.

However, TKA is our first PC indie game, and we are lacking in experience and ability, but I believe that as long as we work hard at it and never give up, we will be able to realise our dream.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

I remember posting a video about this game during the playtest on March, 2024. I didn't pay much mind to the game then, but as I'm highly active with the game now, I wish I would've tried the paytest version simply to try out that dice roll for the door code. This is one of my favorite games and just to experience the things that used to be would have been cool. I noticed that on Nexus Mods, there was a mod called "The Killing Antidote Playtest" that was mentioned to me through AI. Was that uploaded by you guys at one point? AI mentioned it was deleted and provided a link to the deleted page.

oh wow so there were even earlier versions than the Playtest ones being released on Steam back then? I was actually looking for those exact Playtest versions since I had missed them - so is there any way to install say v0.4.8.5 somehow, or is there an .exe-file as well? Thx and keep up.

哪邊能看到實際的故事後續的發展?

So far, i've played the latest version like 27hrs since i downloaded from steam like three months ago. I've loved it! It's gonna be interesting to play the earlier versions and compare them. So far, I can only tell you how much i've enjoyed the game so far. Can't wait for the EA version!

Clevername

thank you, just opened them like an 10 minutes ago as it taken about an hour to download them all XD

That exe file is a self-extracting file package that also contains a runnable version of the game.

Johnny_Suen

Yes, sorry, I wasn't clear. These are separate compressed packages of game files, each of which can be run separately. Because at that time our game had not been submitted to steam.

Johnny_Suen

is the last link meant to be a .exe file? XD Edit: never mind, thought it was a pile of images and video? lol

I actually don't know what to say. I tried these versions of the game and I am so surprised at how optimized it is now. To sight a comparison, all these 4 versions here made my CPU and GPU heat up like it can cook a barbeque or something, ramping up to 70c or above and it's only set on medium graphics settings. And since I'm that paranoid with my peripherals, I can't get far in these versions of the game because of my temperature rising that high. While the current one on steam is so well optimized that it makes my CPU and GPU like it's doing nothing, being stable at 60c(CPU) and 55c(GPU) tops on best quality graphics settings with my monitor's highest refresh rate of 144hz. Really looking forward to the development guys, you are doing great - keep it up. \m/

You guys don't give yourselves enough credit. At no point did I consider you to be lacking any ability. I've supported previous games, and none of them come close to the mechanics and quality that you have achieved, and better still, I can't stop playing it. You said it yourself, killing zombies is fun, and I completely agree, I almost feel like John Wick popping headshots left and right. Keep going, guys. If you have a dream, never give up on it. Otherwise, you'll be thinking what if.

One thing about the test is how sanity the deaths are. I'd love a "blood" option so we can turn blood spray on. I see in the first picture it was gooier early on. I agree with you that the feel of combat in this game is really great. Right up there with the best. Superior to RE in every way. It's why I like playing through the tests. It just feels good.

Quade Masters

Thanks for sharing this, if I understand correctly these are executable files for the game versions? You don't need to mix it with the original Steam folder, right? Just click run and see what is in production, correct?

Hyroco

Add gore system to Jodi in next update that would be great.

Thanks for all the hard works, I’ll be looking forward to your future improvements ❤️❤️❤️

Hey thanks for this - look forward to having a go on these early versions.
