Poll: Switch to Subscription Billing or Delay?

Hello everyone,

Back in December of 2022 I held a poll asking if you'd prefer the campaign to stay with its per-monthly billing, or to switch to the subscription model. At the time, remaining with per-monthly won, and I've left it alone at that since then.

However, Patreon is now phasing out all non-subscription billing types to accommodate a requirement for Apple's iOS app (this seems backwards to me, since it's removing features people have used for a decade to fulfill a requirement for seemingly a small percent of users, but that is a different issue).

Currently our options are to switch to subscription billing in November (selected by default) or manually delay this switch until the end of 2025.

Here is more information on the billing types if it helps: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/209777053-How-to-bill-members-customers

And information on the Apple requirements: https://news.patreon.com/articles/understanding-apple-requirements-for-patreon

(On this note in the second link, if I understand correctly, it looks like Apple wants to start charging an extra 30% for people who use iOS for Patreon... Might be a good time for anyone with it to get far away from that horrible anti-consumer nonsense and use PC or even web browser app on phone if possible)

Please vote below if you'd like the switch to occur sooner or to be delayed.

It's a price increase for people who use the iOS app to sign up for the Patreon, but everyone else is unaffected. Hopefully anybody with that iOS app will simply use web browser to sign up from now on for their best interest.

I thought the iOS subscription method was going to bump up the cost 30%? Am I misunderstanding something?

Mal

I see.

No, not really. It's quite similar, and there are minor pros and cons to both sides, but the Patreon won't fundamentally change. I just don't like altering those sort of things unless the patrons want it.

Is that change a big deal in terms of how we, the members, pay you, the creator? Maybe I'm missing something but is such a change actually important for anybody? (except for the anti-consumer stuff of course)
