I think one of the most important things in this world is language, in quite a few ways. But for the individual like you and me, mastery of language is something that will serve you well.
Ugh even explaining this is hard and it's exactly my point. But basically knowing how to speak well will carry you FAR in life. Knowing how to articulate facts, your opinions/feelings, and communicate clearly is such an invaluable skill.
I say this because this, combined with persistence, has protected me more than once from some awful systematic abuse.
It seems companies, governments, are not very used to well spoken people. People who can read/write sharply, and keep records and hold feet to fire. Do not let them ever make you feel like there's no point to arguing with them, that you have no power.
This is false, that's exactly what they're trying to make you feel.
I speak from experience it doesn't really matter what company. Be it healthcare, your internet provider, the company you bought that coffee-machine from.
The moment you go silent and stop speaking, the moment you give up, then they win. Even if it's as simple as a refund for a broken coffee-machine. Some fights aren't worth it though, like a cheap coffee-machine. Look you get my point, words are important!
