King in Marvel- CH-99. Lost all his powers
Added 2025-01-28 06:50:44 +0000 UTC"Uh-huh!"
Michael took a long time to get up, but found that his body still hadn't improved. He smelled a faint scent of blood. This smell… it came from his body.
When he looked down, he saw that his clothes were soaked in blood, sticky and uncomfortable.
"I'm injured?" Michael frowned slightly. He didn't see any visible wounds on his body, but his current condition was definitely not good.
He struggled to sit up and took a long time to calm himself. He tried to use his telekinesis to reach for the wine on the table. He was thirsty after just waking up, but found that... the bottle of wine didn't move.
"Fuck, don't tell me I lost my ability. That would be ridiculous."
Michael was startled and immediately tried to use other abilities, but none of them responded. He let out a long breath and used the power of the Ether Lamp Ring to take the bottle, drinking several gulps to calm himself down. He then asked the system.
"What happened? Why can't I use my abilities? What happened after I lost consciousness?"
[Host, you absorbed too much energy, which caused your body's adjustment functions to be unable to work in sync, resulting in a collapse.]
The system replied.
Michael curled his lips, "So, I should be glad I'm still alive?"
[Thanks to your super self-healing ability, even though your body collapsed, it healed itself in time. That's why you, the host, survived. As for the temporary loss of your abilities, it's because although your body healed, the abilities you absorbed didn't adjust smoothly. They're in a protective state, preventing you from using them.]
"In other words, I have no abilities right now? Once my body fully adjusts, my abilities will return?" Michael said, though still disappointed, "Well, it's ridiculous, but not completely unacceptable. So, what's the most important thing? Did my devouring ability improve?"
[The initial assessment indicates it's doubled.]
The system responded.
"Only double? Okay, I can live with that. Since I can't use my abilities now, I'll just rest for a few days. Anyway, there are only four or five days left before the dungeon resets. I'll devour Nakamura Hiroshi's abilities next time I'm there."
Michael was somewhat disappointed. After all, he entered this dungeon specifically for Nakamura Hiroshi's power. Now it seemed like he'd have to delay his plan for a few days.
[Unfortunately, I'm afraid you'll have to stay in this copy world for a while.]
The system suddenly added.
Michael paused, "What do you mean?"
"Your body hasn't fully recovered yet, so you're unable to travel through space. I can only forcefully extend your stay in this copy world.]
The system explained.
"Isn't the stay time for the copy seven days? Can I really stay longer forcibly?" Michael asked in surprise.
[It can be done using system energy, but it comes at a high cost. All the energy generated by the seven abilities you absorbed this time has been used for this. Preliminary calculations show that you can stay here for an additional seven days. If your body hasn't recovered by then, more energy will be required to extend your stay.]
"What a loss!" Michael shook his head in frustration. The energy generated by absorbing those seven abilities must have been substantial. To trade that for extra days felt like a poor deal, but he understood the system's reasoning. The copy world had a time limit, and since his body couldn't travel through time and space yet, he had no choice but to consume energy to extend his stay. It was like booking a hotel room—when the time's up, you're kicked out unless you pay more.
"Good thing I'm not completely reliant on my abilities." Michael muttered, "Otherwise, I'd feel like a useless person right now."
He wrapped himself with the light ring and floated toward the bathroom.
Not long after, Michael came out of the shower and covered himself with the Etheric Combat Suit.
Knock! Knock!
There was a knock on the door. Michael walked over and opened it to find the Haitian standing outside.
"Why are you back?" Michael asked.
"Didn't you ask me to come over this morning?"
"I asked you to come tomorrow morning. Wait, damn… I was unconscious for a whole day?" Michael then realized that he had been unconscious for an entire day and that it was already the next morning.
"You're here just in time. Erase the memories of these people and send them back."
The Haitians were indeed good subordinates, working hard without complaint, and were quite useful. After they had sent everyone away, Michael ordered the hotel to send him breakfast and a new set of clothes.
He didn't know if it was because he had filled his stomach, but Michael felt his body was better. At least, simple movements no longer seemed to have any adverse effects.
"It seems like the recovery speed is pretty quick."
Michael felt somewhat relieved. If that were the case, he might as well go shopping. The time seemed to be about the same. It would be nice to buy some clothes for Daisy and the others. After all, it was a gift from another dimension.
The hustle and bustle of New York didn't need much description. In terms of population density alone, it was still fewer people than China's first-tier cities.
Walking the streets of New York, Michael and the Haitian visited one brand-name store after another. A Chinese man and a black man shopping in a women's clothing store was definitely a strange sight, but Michael was generous, and the clothes he was wearing were high-end items that he'd asked the hotel to buy for him, so no one said anything.
Under the influence of money, Michael truly understood what enthusiasm was. Some salespeople even tried to get close to him after seeing how much he was spending. Michael received several small notes and phone numbers but, of course, tossed them away.
He wasn't that shallow.
After shopping for the day, Michael estimated he had spent over a million dollars on clothes. No wonder the girls were so enthusiastic.
Millions! That's not just hundreds of dollars.
After checking the system space, he found it already filled with a large number of women's clothes. Of course, there were some particularly special ones... like sleeping bags with less fabric and more transparency.
"Shopping is really tiring. If I hadn't planned on wearing these clothes for my own enjoyment, I might not have been able to shop for so long." Michael muttered as he sat on the sofa, unbuttoning his shirt, pouring himself a glass of wine, and taking a sip.
After resting, taking a shower, and changing clothes, Michael prepared to go out again.
It was said that the Broadway opera performance tonight was exciting. Although he didn't understand opera, that didn't stop him from enjoying it, right?
"If you don't want to go to the opera, find somewhere else to relax." Michael said, seeing the Haitian had little interest in opera. He gave him some money and let him entertain himself. Anyway, he wasn't needed for the time being.
Arriving at Broadway and watching the opera performance, Michael suddenly regretted his decision.
Although the opera singers were beautiful, he couldn't understand the content of the performance at all. Maybe he just didn't have the refined appreciation for opera?
Shaking his head, Michael quietly got up from his seat and left early.
Walking out of the Broadway gate, Michael wondered whether to go somewhere to kill time or return to the hotel to rest, when he was suddenly bumped into by someone.
A faint fragrance filled the air as a short-haired woman apologized to him, "I'm so sorry, I was too hasty. Are you okay?"
"It's okay." Michael shook his head. This woman was very beautiful, with a slim figure. Despite her short hair, she exuded a unique charm, especially with her voice, which was quite magnetic.
"Are you really okay? How about... we go talk over there?" The short-haired woman suggested with a smile.
"It's fine." Michael replied.
"No, I think... you should really want to talk with me." The woman insisted with a confident smile.
'Something's not right.'
Michael looked at her more carefully and realized she seemed very familiar. After a moment, he remembered who she was.
In a world full of superpowered beings, there weren't too many beauties. The one in front of him was definitely one of them.
