MCU- CH-222. Howard creating a new element

At this time, inside Stark Tower, Howard Stark was conducting an experiment that could change the world. He was attempting to synthesize a new element.

Once successful, humanity would usher in a new era of energy.

Howard had originally collaborated with Anton Vanko to design the first-generation Arc Reactor. However, their partnership ended on bad terms when Vanko attempted to sell the semi-finished product for profit, which Howard strongly opposed.

In the end, Vanko stole the incomplete design and fled to the Soviet Union. Unfortunately for him, the unfinished reactor plans failed to yield the wealth he sought.

He blamed Howard for this failure, a grudge that extended to his son, Ivan Vanko. Ivan, a radical genius in his own right, would later seek revenge against Tony Stark, Howard's son, in the original timeline.

But all of that is in the past.

The Arc Reactor, a groundbreaking innovation, represented a major leap forward in the energy sector. After years of refinement, Howard had managed to reduce the reactor's size to that of a fruit plate, greatly enhancing its portability.

The only remaining obstacle was the element powering it. The new element he sought to synthesize now was the key to the next stage of evolution for this technology.

"Mr. Howard, are you sure this experiment isn't dangerous?"

"Should I inform Mrs. Maria or Tony so they don't worry?"

In the sprawling laboratory, Howard busied himself adjusting the instruments necessary for the experiment. His mechanical assistant aided him while his personal butler, Jarvis, stood nearby, watching with concern.

"Jarvis, relax. I've been preparing for this experiment for twenty years!"

Howard's hair had turned gray with age, but his eyes sparkled with the same enthusiasm for science as ever. Time had not dulled his passion.

He had conceived the idea for this element decades ago, but the technology of that era had been insufficient to bring it to fruition.

Years earlier, Nick Fury had warned him about the lingering remnants of Hydra and their potential threat to former founders of the Homeland Defense Agency. This caution had led Howard to hide his ideas about the element within a scale model of a futuristic city he had designed.

If he didn't live to see the technology evolve, the model would serve as a gift for his son, Tony Stark.

To ensure its discovery, Howard inscribed the label *"The key to the future is here"* on the model. He was confident that Tony, with his unparalleled intellect, would decipher the message.

As an additional precaution, Howard entrusted part of his research to his old friend Nick Fury. If anything happened to him, Fury could guide Tony to uncover the legacy he had left behind.

Howard was at peace with the risks involved, even the possibility of death.

However, with Hydra appearing dormant and technology finally advanced enough, Howard decided to proceed with the experiment.

Though he was not enhanced with a serum like the Infinity Potion, Howard accepted his mortality. Aging alongside his beloved wife Maria seemed a romantic prospect. Yet, he couldn't bear the thought of leaving the element incomplete.

"Well, sir, how can I assist you?"

Jarvis, though unfamiliar with the technical details, was eager to help.

"Let me see... Jarvis, you guard the lab door. No one is to disturb me during the experiment—especially Obadiah."

Once a trusted partner, Obadiah Stane had recently come under suspicion. Nick Fury's cryptic warning prompted Howard to investigate. While Obadiah's actions hadn't reached outright betrayal, Howard's trust in him had significantly eroded.

"Yes, sir. But what if Mrs. Maria or Master Tony arrives?"

"Don't worry, Jarvis. Tony won't show up. As for Maria, she's at a party hosted by Ms. Peggy."

Howard understood his son's nature well. Tony possessed extraordinary talent but seemed interested only in a life of indulgence.

With Jarvis gone, Howard double-checked the instruments.

What he didn't realize was that Luke was observing him silently.

"If Howard survives, will Tony still become Iron Man in the future?" Luke mused.

"Or will his father step into the role first, like Barton Blaze replacing his son as Ghost Rider? Perhaps they could form a Father Avengers Alliance."

Howard's attempt to synthesize the element mirrored something his son would do over a decade later. Watching this unfold intrigued Luke.

Howard's current setup was far more elaborate than Tony's future improvisation. The small reactor powering the prism accelerator alone was a massive undertaking.

With everything ready, Howard adjusted the prism's angle and activated the apparatus with a key.

The reactor roared to life, emitting a deep blue energy beam within the accelerator. Howard carefully manipulated the prism, directing the beam toward the prepared reactor core.

As energy poured in, the core began to glow, but its instability was evident.

"Not enough—more power!"

Ignoring the system's warnings, Howard pushed the output higher.

[Warning: Energy exceeds limit by 10%... 15%...]

"Just a little more!"

Howard's focus on the core was unwavering as the accelerator began to shudder violently.
