Today is Diada de Sant Jordi (The Day of Books and Roses). An important day for Catalan culture. I'll explain it to you a little bit. Sant Jordi (Saint George) is the patron saint of Catalonia. The legend of Sant Jordi says that he rescued a princess from a dragon 👸🐉 When he killed the dragon 🗡️ the blood that gushed out turned into a rose 🩸🌹

That's why, since the 15th century, this day is our Valentine's Day 💘 and men give a rose to their beloved. Roses are also given to mothers and grandmothers.

Centuries later, the tradition of giving away books was also incorporated, because today is also Book Day. In Catalonia it is a very special day with an atmosphere that is not repeated on any other day. The Ramblas in all the cities of Catalonia are filled with stands selling books and roses all day long 📚🌹 Do you know this tradition?

Since we were little, my sister and I always go to La Rambla first thing in the morning and give each other a rose 🌹💗 Just in case no boy gives us a rose 😅 But that never happens 😏 Rather we end up competing to see who has been given the most roses 😊 Who do you think will end the day with the most roses this year?
