You guys should watch Sinners. Just broke the record for most Oscar Nominations

Another classic, which i call a hood classic, that i recommend is the movie “Juice”. I hope y’all react to it sometime in the future.

Also, i grew up in the hood as well where alot of what happened in the movie happened where i lived as well. I actually got caught in the crossfire of driveby shooting when i was 9 yrs old. I was walking to a recreational center for kids with my older brother and my 3 boy cousins. And suddenly two cars came outta nowhere, pulled up and started shooting at one another. We were at close range directly next to the car being targeted. Luckily my brother (who was the oldest at 13yo) pulled me to the ground to hover over me to protect me while screaming at my oldest cousin (who was 12yo) to get down and protect his younger brothers (my other 2 cousins who were 8yo snd 6yo). If my brother hadn’t been there, i probably wouldn’t have been alive today. The guns used sounded like glocks and semi-automatic rifles that sprays tons of bullets per clip. One of the craziest experiences i’ve had as a kid.

Impulse control apparently doesn’t play any part in Morpheus’ message lol

I recommend you girls watch Straight Outta Compton 2015. Is a really good movie about hip-hop and a new group of artist in the rise. I'm sure you girls will know some of the music featuring 2Pac and Snoop. If you girls want a laugh I recommend All about the Benjamins 2002 or Malibu's Most Wanted 2003.

I grew up in the ghetto specifically north of Sacramento in California and then moved to north Minneapolis, MN. There is gang wars with different race and same. Shoot outs with the cops and the opposition. There is some truths behind this movie in a lot of the poor communities but the movie makes it more dramatic. Just like Tre if you mind your own business and focus on your goals you can make a better life for yourself. Just like in any where in the world there is good and evil. Mass shootings, school shootings, serial killers, and criminals exist all over the world. Personally for me I don't blame the government because ultimately at the end you are the one that make the final decision of pulling that trigger just like Tre at the end.

Blacks actually after slavery were more likely to have a mother and father in the home up to the 60s it was really president johnson and the democrats who was also largely responsible for the Vietnam War that destroyed black communities with various policies like wealfare tax cuts for mothers it broke up the black home and is largely responsible for crime

Here are some others I forgot to put in. Most are funny and are more about being in the hood or coming from the hood like Friday. Freedom Writers (2007) Stand and Deliver (1988) Deep Cover (1992) Felon (2008) Shot Caller (2017) Waist Deep (2006) Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2005) The funny ones: Leprechaun In the Hood (2000) Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood (2003) How High (2001) The Wash (2001) Soul Plane (2004) All About the Benjamins (2002) Barbershop (2002) First Sunday (2008) Next Day Air (2009) I Got the Hook-Up (1998) Paper Soldiers (2002) The Cookout (2004) Now if you ask if the comedies are good movies? They are comedies just turn off your brain and laugh lol

If you girls do want to watch more heavy hood/crime movies, I put a list together. If you do not watch these, its ok. Some of them have scenes I find that are hard to watch. Even though these movies are heavy and bring in a good message at the end, or at least show you a lesson. Menace II Society (1993) New Jack City (1991) Set It Off (1996) South Central (1992) Baby Boy (2001) Blood In, Blood Out (1993) Hustle & Flow (2005) Dead Presidents (1995) Training Day (2001) American Gangster (2007) Above the Rim (1994) Goodfellas(1990) Belly (1998) ATL (2006) American Me (1992) Higher Learning (1995) American History X (1998) Colors(1988) Some of these titles may stand out. That's because don't be a menace was making fun of them. Oh another movie that they made fun of is Poetic Justice (1993) it's a Romance/Drama.

For some reason, this cover image always makes me think of Tevin Campbell's "Just Ask Me To" If you'd like some backstory on the real Ice Cube, you should watch "Straight Outta Compton"

James Hull

Can ya'll react to the gang movies: 'Colors' 1988, 'The Warriors' 1979, 'Young Guns' 1988, 'Bonnie and Clyde' 1967, 'The Untouchables' 1987, 'Blow' 2001, and "Gangs of New York' 2002

Gam

Doughboy wasn't to blame. Ricky had no business being at the car show and talking crap to the rival gang, Doughboy escalated it, but Ricky was also to blame.

TheEnd187

This is a heavy movie, but a good choice. Fun fact, this was Ice Cube's first movie. Also, the actor that played the father was also Morpheus from the Matrix. The movie Crash (2004) is another heavy but beautiful movie. It's about race relations in Los Angeles. It's a very touching movie.
