How Do We Feel About Sketch Tier
Added 2025-03-22 10:18:56 +0000 UTCSo the idea is this: I like doing sketch commissions. Outside of the streams, however, I don't always do a good job of checking to see if people are interested. So I am playing with the idea of making a sketch commission tier. A limited number of slots, some on patreon, some on subscribestar, and having those open every month for people interested.
However:
biggest issue is people sitting on the slot/tier and not giving other people a chance. After those from the slots were finished I could always open up for others as well as do the commission streams, but I would worry about people sitting in that spot and not giving up their place.
sketch commissions are pretty specific in scale: single character, not too complex. In the past when I was doing the polls it had the issue of scope creep and was a factor in burnout. Id have to be real specific with what is allowed when someone signs up: scale and content wise.
and the last bit is that patreon would wind up taking a chunk out of commission. This is less of an issue if I limit the number, but I also am already not super comfortable with raising sketch commission prices because of waves hands at everything going on.
Anyroad. This is something I am thinking about for next month and these are my concerns. I basically want to float this past my supporters first if you all have any thoughts before I commit to hard or abandon the idea.
Or maybe I'll just do a Zip growth drive and think about this longer.

I feel like you might be better served by just posting here when you're open for sketch comms. I know another artist who does this, has people type something short abd specific in the comments if they want one, first N get a slot. Or make it less strict and just tell people you're open for N sketches right now so they can tell you their ideas and you can pick. I dunno, it's tricky. Make it a limited tier and people will absolutely squat there forever tho.

2025-03-22 14:18:44 +0000 UTCMm yeah might be tricky to manage, prob best to do some raffle system, active patreons and stars reply to a specific post showing interest in a comm, a select number of winners drawn, time passes art done, next time round those folks can't be in the draw, rinse and repeat. Could work?
