The song at the end of the movie comes from a Spaghetti Western film called "They Call Me Trinity." It is one of my favorite films of all time. Is it great? No. The Main Character is pretty much the laziest man in the entire West. He is filthy dirty, and only grunts (no actual words). He scarfs down an entire plate of beans without even saying a word. Then he runs into his brute of a brother, who beats people with just his fist. Is it hilarious? Yes. Is it good reaction content? Probably not. But I love those films because they say maybe 7 words the entire movie and they are constantly covered in dust.

Disregarding all of the problematic Ante-Bellum South ("Pre-War [Civil]) stuff, this movie is a seamless weaving of 1970s Black Exploration films and 1960s Spaghetti (Italian) Westerns.
Literally, a chef's kiss of perfection.

Lol. 🙄 So the "Slaves" depicted in this film weren't actually slaves. And the plantation owners weren't actually plantation owners. THIS never happened anywhere. 🙄 This ONLY happened in Tarantino movies, that take place in 1858 Mississippi.

I think everything was on track to complete the deal until the Dr insulted Candie regarding the author of The Three Musketeers. If you recall, Candie's lawyer made it a specific point to warn the visitors not to speak French, because it might embarrass Candie, and the Dr just made him look foolish in front of all his top men.
So the handshake... Candie simply wanted the final "win" by making the Dr do something against his will. A final show of power, a final humiliation, if you will. It was an impulsive decision to shoot Candie, a defiant action.

While the group that started the KKK might have had democrats in it, it wasn't the party that started it. It was started by a small group who were upset at reconstruction.
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) emerged in the aftermath of the American Civil War, specifically in 1866 in Pulaski, Tennessee, as a reaction to the Reconstruction policies aimed at integrating formerly enslaved African Americans into society. Originally founded as a fraternal organization for white male Protestants, the Klan promoted white supremacy and resistance against federal efforts to ensure civil rights for African Americans.
Formed by white southerners who were disaffected by the outcome of the Civil War and the liberation of African Americans, the original Ku Klux Klan was short lived. However, it left a legacy that would grow into an organization of institutionalized race hatred and survive into the twenty-first century.

Glad you reacted to this awesome movie. I am torn as to which Tarantino, or Quarantino as Tein says, movie I place as my favorite but this one is the top for sure.
Lan, you mentioned slavery was not legal, but it was. It was legal until after the Civil War and officially so with the passage of the 13th amendment. Only a few states had made it illegal by then. The Civil War began because of the states that wanted to keep the practice legal.
I don't believe there was anything such as Mandingo fighting like the movie portrayed. There may have been some fights setup but there was no ring of slave owners taking part in anything like this.
Phrenology that Candie talks about was a popular belief back in the day but has been debunked. So what he was talking about was actually what many thought at the time. They thought the shape of the skull or size of the brain determined intelligence. Illogical as it was.
Trivia about the movie: The Italian gentleman that asks Django his name is the original Django. His name is Franco Nero, and he played a character with that name. So, when he said "I know" about the 'D' being silent, he was being tongue in cheek with that comment.
The man blown up by the dynamite was Tarantino!
The horse Django rides back to Candieland is Jamie Foxx's own horse. That horse coloring is called a Bay.
Leo really cut his hand during the filming of that scene at the table and they just went with it. After he finished, all of the crew and some of his fellow actors gave him a round of applause for such a great acting scene despite his injury.
Finally, the slavery and the slave trade and America's part in it was reprehensible. Unfortunately, there is still slavery in the world today and estimates state there are more people under some sort of slavery than before with the African slave trade.
Great reaction and looking forward to other "Quarantino" reactions!

Such a good movie and what a great cast. By the way, the cowboy with the dynamite who got blown up by Django is the director of the movie Quentin Tarantino. He has a small cameo in many of his movies.
I don't think Candie wanted to kill Dr. Schulz. He knew Dr. Schulz detests him and everything he stands for. By forcing him to shake his hand against his will, he wanted to humiliate him one last time, and that was too much for Dr. Schulz.
The song that plays at the end is called Trinity and is the title song of the 1973 movie They Call Me Trinity.
It's a western comedy with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
The two were real legends in the 70s and early 80s when they made a lot of movies together. Mostly pretty silly comedies with a bit of slapstick fighting action. But for many who grew up with the movies, like me, they are unforgettable classics.
Perhaps you could react to They Call Me Trinity sometime.😉
That was, as always, an awesome reaction Angels.💜

Hi Angels.
just to help you on some point, I saw you struggle or don't undertsand
1) If you really want to know the german story of Broomhilda (or Brunehilde in some other language) search for the story of the opera The ring of the ninbelungen by R. Wagner. but frankly it's more siegfried's story than her's.
2) the american civil war didn't begun because of the slavery. it was just one of many politicals and economics striffe between the north industrialized and protectionist and the south more agricultural and free-trader . Slavery was just a good excuse from the north to make sure that european countries (who already banned slavery "officialy") don't come to help the south. And the end of the war did free the slaves "officially", but new racial law was put in the south like the segregation and the rise of secret group like the KKK. (who didn't exist before or not really in the form we know now)
3) some point here and there.
the strange collar whit hooks was meant, if the slave run away, to caught himself in the branches of the tree.
the scene of the "scientific theory" is based on something who really exist. you have no idea how many they made to justify racism (against africans or other peoples).
Francophiles means "who likes french cultures". and "slaver" is someone who sell slaves.
And if you wander how people can threat others like this. it's easy when everyone saw those people not as humans but animals. It's sad to say, but the reality may be even worse. Even today, live is not easy on black people in this region. the "black lives matter"didn't come from nothings.
I hope i help you a lot to understand some point. have a good day and i hope you didn't had nightmare with all of that .
PS: the character played by Samuel L. Jackson, it's hard to believe he's played by the same actor who played Mace Windu in star wars and Furry in Avengers .
