During our Weekly D&D campaign the topic came up to have a group split due to various reasons; and the necessity for temporary party members came up.
Thinking about the way I would handle a temporary alt for the game I was contemplating the idea of a mercenary blademaster patterned after Blondie from the Dollars Trilogy (kind of a nod at how westerns and samurai dramas are the same movies but one has swords and the other has revolvers). As the idea of a "only in it for the money" samurai character took shape I eventually settled on a hobgoblin and the oni mask was just to add some style and bring the character design in a specific direction.
The problem now is that Sawyer is honestly my favorite of my character designs. She has a very clear visual language and a lot of evident personality just in her appearance. Plus, kinda cool looking. So I might wind up using her for other things in the future as well.
I always think some of my strongest character designs come from making character gumbo out of parts from different areas.
Bonus round I redid my main, Wurmsurgeon's, profile picture while I was at it.
