Tactical Bunnies won the poll and this time there is some lore to go with it! (A bunch of random bits of info collected from the stream.)
The rabbit army, acquiring a child is not exactly uncommon, but their pregnancies are relatively short (5-6 months) so its not considered a big deal. Known for their ruthlessly expansionist culture, necessitated by their total inability to keep it in their pants.
They are not inherently bloodthirsty or anything, but the "We should just annex another neighbor" party always soundly defeats the "Maybe we should have less sex" party in elections. (Some have argued that the latter party needs a more compelling platform.)
The important thing is that the maternity benefits in rabbit society are excellent. Sort of by necessity. If they weren't, both sides of every conflict would run out of volunteers very quickly.
Squads can be alone together for long stretches of time, and part of a squad leader's duty is to keep its members apart, which has lead Squad leaders be also be called KJ's, "Kill Joys"
Rabbit society technically -is- one giant military. Kids are sorted into classes which eventually become their platoons, with members rotating between active duty and support/civilian roles depending on how preg they are, but basically everyone has combat training.
Because discharge from service is essentially impossible (that's just... jail), citizens are disciplined by assigning them to undesirable jobs. Most notably Daycare Duty, which every soldier dreads.
You get deployed to active duty after having your first litter, which is an -attempt- to encourage teenagers to hold off for five goddamn minutes. It has mixed results.
Squad leaders are almost invariably 'whichever member of a class managed to avoid getting knocked up before properly graduating'. Actual tactical acumen is secondary to basic self-control.
A squad leader has the rank of Warren Officer, which soldier typically shorten to "Double O" (instead of 'Double U')
Troopers are generally 'allowed' one litter per 18 months. Exceeding that is one of the easier ways to get in trouble and get saddled with something like daycare duty or some other unwanted work during your 'downtime'.
