Hahaha yeah in some ways I do agree it's a bit silly to try and attribute modern morality to Canute and can see your point there π . But I do think that many of the moral conflicts and overall themes the show tries to portray can also only be appreciated properly through the lens of today.

2025-05-26 19:37:05 +0000 UTCI laugh whenever you get angry at Canute or call him evil lol. Like expecting modern morality of a world roamed by the vikings. He's trying to be a better king than his father while at the same time realizing empty ideals like "I must not kill anyone for my goals" doesn't work. He understands that conflict, which is why he's haunted by the former king. Great writing. I know you understand that but it still makes me laugh.
