Monday Update: Housekeeping and Expectations

Hello all!

I wanted to thank everyone for your continued support and feedback on Ver 2.1x. I think the reception was overall positive and the update seemed to have minimal bugs attached to it, though please report any if you find them! With that said, we are now fully looking towards the future so I wanted to talk about my expectations and goals for the next update!

For starters, if all of the art is completed in time, the next update should mark the end of Tier 2! Now, naturally that doesn't mean that Tier 3 is starting, but I have already written out much of the story pertaining to it and I cannot wait to start working on it! Tier 3 is where this game is really gonna get crazy!

That being said, I haven't forgotten about the first part of the game either. Much of the goal of this upcoming update is to fix some of the early content, particularly the really egregiously bad art that some scenes have. For these scenes, I am transitioning away from AI slowly. Instead of being fully AI, my new workflow and skill will allow for new scenes to remain at the AI assisted level. This should, in theory, drastically improve the consistency and vibes for all future art! The end goal will still inevitably be to replace these scenes with completely original variations eventually, but that doesn't mean that they should get a pass for their inconsistency until then.

Beyond that, part of my planning for improving the beginning of the game will be removing some of the superfluous patrols that don't lead anywhere and reincorporating those scenes into the new FNSM app. Things like the car chase, discovering the canine rescue, etc. Alongside some other quality of life improvements that I have planned for the patrol map such as alerts when new variations are available and the ability to filter the map based on tiers, I think that it will come together quite nicely to drastically improve the discovery portion of the game.

So, all of this means that this update is going to be more focusing on house cleaning and improving what we already have than creating new content. I do understand that this may be disappointing to some, but I do believe it's much better for the long term! I do want to implicitly say that there will be new scenes. In fact, three brand new scenes are already planned for original art alongside Spider-Woman's model. However, much of the new content might end up being text only for the time being.

Finally, I wanted to be up front about when I am planning to release the next update. As some may know, this game originally released to the public on Christmas of 2023. I would -love- to be able to drop Ver 2.2 on Christmas as well. I have even thought up some fun non-canon Christmas based events and wardrobe options! All of that said, I won't force the update through until it's ready, so while Christmas is the goal, we shall see how optimistic that may or may not have been!
