It is mainly secreted by the corpus luteum in the ovary during the second half of the menstrual cycle. It plays important roles in the menstrual cycle and in maintaining the early stages of pregnancy.
This induces an increased production as well as a simulation, so it can be used by both male and female.
(it just wont be induced in the corpus luteum if you don't have any)
