Inks all done. On page 2, you might notice that panel two is black, but you can just barely make out the glyphs of lost magic systems. You followers can more clearly see them on the sketches. Let's see how long it takes other people to notice.

Some people have been wondering if Amity is lying here but I'll freely tell you that she's telling the truth. This was an exposition dump to explain how the coven system is different than the canon version, and to help explain Amity's determination to be a member of the Emperor's Coven.

I'm also happier with Odalia's change. She's not nearly as much as a weenie as she is on the show. Canon version is fine but I could only stomach her for so much. Here, she's just meant to be a misguided parent.

Yeah, but he also kept killing his followers. And they never addressed if there was organized resistance from Wild Magic users.

That's not really the case. From what Hollow Mind showed, Belos started off as a preacher who won people over with his words. Hell, it took him hundreds of years til he became the Emperor. Also, he burned down, at least, one city, blaming it on Wild Magic to back up his preaching.

I also like Odalia's change. While I don't mind her being a "weenie" on the show, it does make me wonder why canon Alador would start a family with Odalia when he seems to resent her as much as the children do (I expected him to be more sinister like he was in Amity's memory). Odalia's obsession with the Blight Family's reputation always felt like a game only she was playing. It's nice to seem some actual consequences for being pariah among the aristocracy.

It makes sense. I never liked the idea that the Emperor just showed up and everyone accepted the Coven system without precedent. Especially since the residents of the Boiling Isles seemed to be getting along just fine using multiple types of magic, so they had no reason to believe it was suddenly against the Titan's will. This sounds a lot more realistic, like the Four Nations in Avatar: People naturally forming groups based their strongest affinity. So the Coven system actually helps integrate the population as a whole, while the Emperor's own coven keeps them under control.
