I think I watched the beginning and the end of the episode 5 times each so I can understand the urge to rewind. I liked s1 but I fell in love with this anime while watching s2 to the point that by the time I was at episode 10 I knew that this anime is climbing to the no.1 seat on my comfort anime list. Every time I watch an episode be it a rewatch or a reaction video I get filled with a cozy warm feeling.

btw the subtitles are wrong , when jinshi said it "i really want to" the correct translation was "i really want to do it" , and then she said "it is really clean" in the right translation it said "he really is beautiful".

These last episodes was a messy mess and a rollercoaster of emotions. I was abit upset over Suisui/Loulan's "death" and also that Jinshi can't seem to get what he wants from Maomao If i should leave a prediction for Season 3 i believe that either Maomao or Jinshi will find that particular merchant who traded the hair pin, recognize the pin, see the dent in it and come to a conclusion that Suisui/Loulan might still be alive. Maybe not directly, but around middle of the season.

If you look up the name Tamamo, you will find the following: Tamamo-no-Mae is a legendary nine-tailed fox spirit, or kitsune, from Japanese folklore and mythology. She's a powerful sorceress and manipulator. // With this in mind, her being associated with the fox mask is kinda perfect. Jinshi even said she played him like a fox. Its perfect. Also the story of Tamamo mentions she came from beyond the sea. So she likely arrives in Japan from China based on how this episode ends.

I ALSO SCREAMED! HOLY SHIT! I was at most expecting a HUG, not all….THIS in this episode. Okay some things to note, I’m pretty sure that once Jinshi decided to tell Maomao about his identity, he stopped taking his hormone suppressing medicine as early as the hunt episode. Imagine at 19 years old suppressing your manhood for years and then suddenly it’s not? Usually teens go through this way early on but he didn’t. So, if his hormones are running freely now, he might have some difficulty managing them, hence the, “weird” reaction and his inability to hold back 🤣 is my guess. But JINSHI is making it VERY CLEAR how he feels about her now, he is not holding back. Maybe because he’s no longer the heir, and Maomao does not work under him, so they are on more equal grounds? Also, I love how after ALL this worrying, now that Maomao knows who he is, she really isn’t treating him differently at all, if anything she’s showing more concern towards him. I’m still not sure how she feels, however she CLEARLY cares for him, and is letting him give her WAY more affection compared to season 1. Honestly, she’s just like her parents, thinking about some logistical shit during scenes of affection 😂 I think she would’ve let him kiss her, at least. After that? Idk. But she did smile at his distress and let him sleep in her lap. That is, SOME progress for them! I am SO excited to see their new dynamic here next season and what that looks like. This show is amazing, I’m so glad there’s a season 3 coming. However I might cave in and catch up with the novels first after this episode oh my god.

Well, Shisui was the main character of season 2, and add in the fact we all grew to love her almost as much as Maomao it makes sense how your emotions stayed. This show has made us like characters they introduced us to as people we don't like, don't care about or even hate , then making us cry over their story or fate. I get how you feel. I think that since Jinshi the eunuch no longer exists since everyone now knows he is the Moon Prince she has no reason to work for him anymore, or maybe they just need Maomao to be in the pleasure district for plot reasons. Jinshi is getting there...that last cock block when he was about to kiss her she for the first time didn't close her mouth before the interruption that that i screamed when the little shit barged in.

The two scenes that I wish would be showcased more because it makes my heart swell so much: the one where jinshi is propped on his elbow holding maomao's hand while they're talking. And the scenes when Jinshi steals looks at maomoa while she's reviving the children in the wagon. There is a look of such deep love, respect, admiration and happiness radiating from that dude even as he looks tired as hell. Despite the frustration of pursuing her, he must be so happy to have her back and not have to keep secrets from her anymore.

I might be an overanalyzing, but Jinshi biting at Maomao’s neck kind of calls back to the bruise he was concerned about when she was napping. Aside from him being sad that she was hurt, maybe he was also lowkey nervous if someone had already given her a hickey 😝 I’m so sad there wont be any more episodes every Friday because I had a very unexpected obsession with this anime too 😭 planning on buying the light novels and reading ahead in the manga in the meantime. Loved watching this show with you Flexie :)

I too might result to just chomping on someone if I was in his shoes lmao I'm a bit ahead with the light novels and there are some of the funniest scenes in LN5 that I can't wait to see animated next season. I hope it will be worth the wait! also, I don't know if it's explicitly stated anywhere but I believe the reason they had to let Maomao go from the palace was because her identity as Lakan's daughter was also revealed during the attack. as the "princess of the La clan" it would not be appropriate for her to serve someone as a mere servant (for Jinshi)/lady-in-vaiting (for Gyokuyou). so regardless of Maomao not wanting to be associated with Lakan, people will see her differently

You might have already seen this mentioned somewhere, but have you noticed the difference between the Japanese and English titles? The Japanese title is 'Kusuriya no Hitorigoto.' 'Kusuriya no'='Apothecary's 'Hitorigoto' means words you say to yourself or your inner thoughts(monologue). It's cool that Jinshi and Maomao first met because he overheard her talking to herself!

FYI, they put a fun little twist with the credits at the end. Usually the cast is listed towards the beginning of the credits but they didn't appear until the scene at the port. They went through all the names, and the very last one that was listed was "Tamamo - Asami Seto"

For extra emotional damage, consider that Ah-Duo taking in the kids and Suirei is her finally getting a chance to raise the child that she never got to in the past. Suirei, in particular, is similar to her own son. The grandchild of the former emperor who was never acknowledged as such and raised away from their actual mother. They were forced to live under a false identity of sorts, not free to even choose what to do with their lives.

Yea mao mao not telling jinshi to stop or knock it off has been some nice development in their relationship. I think maomao doesn't really know what she wants but she likes seeing jinshi. I keep thinking about her parents and how her mother was the one to initiate things, so I think jinshi will be eternally blocked until maomao initiates things. Also aren't love bites like that kind of seen as marking a partner? I swear I've seen that trope before

the fact that Maomao isn't fond of physical affection but she kept touching Jinshi's face again and again plus allowing him to rest his head on her lap , it really says a lot to me. Isn't Tamamo a legendary figure in Japanese mythologie. A princess exiling from China to Japan and was said to be a kitsune or a nine-tailed fox ? If Loulan new name and future is a nod to that it's really nice
