Episode 4 | Need to Stop Faking

Comments

This show is really interesting, and I am loving all the different characters, they are well done! Waiting week to week tho is !#%#$@%@%$#^@^^#^&$%&#& lol

Christopher Velasquez

as a manhwa reader i totally forgot about this, but the moment they said it i could easily picture Flexie cosplaying as Cha Hae In XD

kplrn

LiSA absolutely KILLED it with this OP MY LORD

Laura Bea

We were so close yet so far 😭😭 gahhh damn it!!!

Heavenly Demonic Emperor

I love fact she's called "The Dancer"

ProfessorWoodie

I agree. Such a bummer they are removing all references to Korea in the anime. If they make a season 3 then that will have to be touched upon anyways.

AzyxA

This is the first time I've ever watched an anime after reading the source, it's so interesting to see what they cut and speculate on why. I actually really appreciate adaptations when they're thoughtful, it must be a really difficult job trying to serve so many masters to produce a good adaptation (fans, creator, director/publisher) As usual, love your reactions!

Leo Carbajal

I disagree. Anime's message in short: "If you come to Japan I will kill you". In manhwa: "If you come to Korea, my son will kill you and will then ARISE you and you will have to serve for the rest of your life as a shadow." It's a pretty big difference here. One is where the Dad is calling himself the threat. In manhwa he is acknowledging that he knows of Jinwoo's power and that he is the threat. With his "mission" that we learn of later the manhwa sentence also makes so much more sense.

Seal Oppa

She was covering her nose with a handkerchief/tissue, yeah. What's his face said she has a very sensitive sense of smell.

Mune Yotsuki

28:50 Remeber, Jinwoo already has a hunters Shadow, the A-rank Kim Chul, Iron.

Ryan

SPOILERish ALERT. . . . . . The reason for the dialogue change is to try to maintain the mystery and to let Jinwoo's character grow and develop into the OP protag role more organically. I agree with the studio decision to rewrite it this way. The anime has not explicitly stated that Jinwoo is the calamity his father spoke of. They're using the dialogue to be more show and less tell; they are avoiding the explicit exposition that the manhwa suffers from. I say suffers specifically because the manhwa has no sense of tension and the story can be improved so much further by changing its character dialogues slightly. Even with the rewrite, the audience still gets it. The idea isn't lost. Flexie herself even came to the conclusion the exposition would have flatly told if it had been a direct import from the manhwa. Shows are simply better received when the audience feels "rewarded" for uncovering story elements in this way. All this ramble to say, that line change was a directorial decision to make the anime more enjoyable for its viewer base, many of who have never read the manhwa. They're doing a great job with this anime, I would avoid putting too many "in the manhwa this then this and this happens" because it can feel spoilery for those who are anime only.

Alex

Oh, we’re getting to THAT part xD

Sarai

For Andy, same with this one. Don't know why they decided to switch location to Japan, but oh well. For Victoria, Yeah I am very disappointed with the way they have changed some dialogues. For the most part the animation and pacing has been good, but I wish they would just include more of what was in the manhwa. Because in the manhwa, the fact that he says "You will not rest. Not even in death." directly points to that Jinwoo's dad already knows about his powers. The fact that he knows that Jinwoo would make him work for him for the rest of eternity is so big. But now we dont have that in the anime, big dissapointed.

Seal Oppa

I recommendation Anime you should watch next is "Arifutera: From Commonplace to World's Strongest"

STEVE_0906

Also they’ll answer the Cha Hae-In question next episode

Kcosta

Ahh man they’re pacing this SO well I can’t wait for the next few episodes

Kcosta

The opening song for some reason gives me linkin park idk why.. anyone else? Although they sound nothing alike lol

deranged but not really

It’s explained in the manhwa, and we’ll see she’s not the only hunter affected this way

victoria t

THIS. THE NEW LINE MAKES NO SENSE NOW. Also disappointed with how much internal/extra dialogue they’re cutting out. Like woo jinchul’s internal dialogue, extra dialogue about the reassessment, etc

victoria t

oh my God Why did they end it with a cliffhanger?! The sniffing part was about to happen! 🤣

Sanji Sanji

Most likely that has to do with Japan's view on Korea, Japan and Korea for a long time have not always seen eye to eye with certain things both political and culture wise. There have been other adaptations that Japan anime studios have been changed in the past. The changes that are made are said to better appeal to Japan viewers. For example, I believe in the adaptation of God of High School they completely changed the location the anime was located in. Originally its set in Korea but it was changed to Japan/Tokyo. Tower of God also has some dialogue changed as well.

Andy Hinton

Season 1 solo was alright in my opinion, lots of world building but kinda "Meh". This season feels like it's ramping up real quick im enjoying it alot so far.

Geo

Loved the reaction, but just wanted to cover something that was translated different in the anime compared to the manhwa. When Il-hwan Sung warns Hwang Dongsoo to stay away from his family, in the anime he says "If you dont... Not even death can save you from me". But in the manhwa he actually said "Don't ever step foot in Korea. I'm not saying this for my sons sake, I'm saying it for yours. If you do, you will never rest in peace. Not even in death." I'm kind of sad that they translated it differently, because in the manhwa it sounds so more threatening if you actually take a second to realize what he is saying.

Seal Oppa

So the reason why cha hae in covers her nose is because she has a very sensitive nose and mana from hunters smells really bad to her so the stronger the hunter the stronger the mana smells to her

Maya Coleman

It's been shown a couple times. Even in season 1 going to the island, she is covering her nose and Choi mentions how this trip must be hard for her because she's sitting among all these top rank hunters and her sensitive nose is catching all the mana in the small helicopter. Wait for next week. You're likely to get at least a brief answer or 2

Kurohime

Great episode

Michael Chapman

When Cha Hae-In walks out of the A Gate is actually the first time we see her in the manwha, I believe the extra scenes of her during the anime so far are for the better

Davram

Korean S ranks we have seen so far that have been named on screen in case you forget Episode 1, Min Byung-Gyu - Healer, Eunseok - lightning claw, Baek Yoonho - beast guy, Choi Jong-In - fire guy, Cha Hae-In - blondie, Go Gunhee - old man Episode 6/7, Hwang Dongsu - bad dude Episode 16, Sung Jinwoo - finally reassessed Total 8 met, 2 more to be revealed Sung Il-hwan - Jinwoo's father, as we found out in episode 15, disappeared before the ranking system was implemented, so he is not an official S rank if he is one

Davram

In the manhwa he can actually tell which rank they are. You get it sometimes in thoughts to himself. Unfortunately the anime cuts out a lot of his internal dialog and most all of the side characters internal dialogue. Unfortunate too because some of it leads to a lot more character insights or is just very entertaining / comical.

AzyxA

This is a bad idea but not for the reason you think. If she starts reading it, it would be too difficult to stop where the anime ends! But yes, I agree with everything you said about the manhwa. It's incredible and you get so much more story and character insights from it. This being said, I have read the light novels and highly recommend those if you want even more details and world building.

AzyxA

It is explained in the manhwa. The more mana a hunter has, the worse they smell to her. It's just an unfortunate side effect of her awakening.

AzyxA

I wonder if he's shadows could get a hunters rank? Like if he sneaked into to building at night when noones there and make Igris, Iron etc. touch that crystal

Yashu

the manhwa never really explains it. the only other info you get about it later on is that it smells worse for her the more mana she is around i.e. strong hunters/in high level dungeons. other than that, you get nothing.

deadlyginger42699

Jinwoo mining in a tank top. We are eating. Bless the animators. 🙏

Jeff

Yeah but I’m wondering like, why?! Lol

Jessica McCann

I know you've been waiting for him to go public for a while now!

William Roberts

In the dungeon, Jong-in mentioned that Hae-in has a sensitive nose when passing by the burning monsters. Which is why she has the handkerchief.

Juan Solo

Flexie, I recommend you reading the manhwa alongside watching the anime episodes. The manhwa offers a lot of new content that the anime skips because of time limitations. The artwork is often even better than what you see in the anime. Also, there are many funny moments of Jinwoo that have been removed from the anime.

Bruno

Hey flexie I can't wait to see your reaction to this episode and also I just wanted to tell you that I have been having a rough week and your videos have brought me so much joy and happiness throughout this rough time ❤️
