2025-01-21 17:27:17 +0000 UTCShinigami only die if they use the death note to purposefully lengthen the lifespan of a human that they love. Rem doesn't love or care for Light whatsoever, so even if his lifespan is lengthened by killing L, Rem wouldn't die. This wouldn't be the same type of circumstance as when Gelus died saving Misa.

2025-01-21 14:14:39 +0000 UTCMy personal headcanon is that the mechanism for determining if a Shinigami dies is if that Shinigami *believes* that they are saving a life. Since Rem doesn't know the extent of the danger that L poses, she can't be considered to be violating the rule. Anyway, I find it both funny and jarring when Light's mom comes in. "Ok, Mr. God of the New World, no girls in your room past 11:30."

2025-01-21 07:18:02 +0000 UTCIt wouldn't kill Rem because the rule is a shinigami cannot kill with the intention of saving another human. If it didn't work that way there could be a butterfly effect where killing any human could unintentionally save another human. The way Rem worded it about having to love a human is just a simplified way to say the shinigami must have the intention of lengthening a human's life when killing another human.

2025-01-20 21:24:24 +0000 UTCSo when misa was first saved her "lifespan timer" was actually at zero and she was fated to die then which had a big impact, also if its more of a butterfly effect that by killing one person you inderectly save another somewhere down the line then no harm no foul i believe.

2025-01-20 14:11:12 +0000 UTCMisa and Light are total opposites, their dynamic is fun :D we got into a Mexican standoff all of a sudden xD interesting how Rem reacted there when she told Misa before when she asked her if she loves her that it wont be that easy to get rid of her :) L calling Light his friend was low key sweet :D Misa driving Light mad is hilarious xD a shinigami would die if they did something to stop a person from dying :) it is really fun trying to figure out what everybody is thinking and what could happen :D
