Not all the time but it was when they were stressed or feeling under pressure that they would come at me with really nasty verbal assaults to try to get me to respond in kind. They would get nastier and nastier until eventually I would walk out of the house because I was going to really snap. It was like that on and off for about 18 months. The reason behind it was that they had been horribly verbally abused by a parent when they were a small child and had learned to put up emotional barriers to deal with it. So whenever they felt too much stress or pressure they tried to manufacture a similar situation because it was one they felt they had a degree of control over, so they felt safer with someone yelling abuse at them. It’s so sad really but that’s quite a common thing. It’s most of the reason some people who were abused as kids end up in a series of relationships with abusive partners: they know that situation well and have coping strategies so they feel somehow comfortable being in abusive relationships. Life can be horrible to people. Some people curl up in a foetal position and some people try to make you attack them and it’s all for the same reason. It’s comforting. What a messed up world.

2024-09-16 17:10:00 +0000 UTCGod, I love this episode. It's the start of us finally learning more about where Bakugo comes from in terms of mindset. It's a neat concept to think about, IMO! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode 😊 I know it feels like him and Deku were still bickering with each other even towards the end of their exam, but I don't want us to glaze over the fact that they DID manage to work together a tiny bit in the episode. It may just not feel like that because of how aggressive and angry Bakugo sounds. He DID concede and let Deku borrow his gauntlet so they could attack All Might together and run. Then, fitting their mindsets, Bakugo stood his ground and fought against All Might to buy Deku time to run towards the exit. Like All Might said, it's a really small baby step for growth, and things can still be better, but they did manage to work together! Then there's Bakugo's takeaway of All Might as a kid: "No matter how much trouble he's in, he ALWAYS ends up the winner!" It's just as valid of a lesson to learn.

I would’ve preferred them to call it what it was in the beginning. Bro’s a bully. Deku is reasonable, which is shocking considering their past.
