Frieren Beyond Journey's End Ep12 (Early Uncut Access)

Comments

ep 10 and ep 12 and 14 is peak. it is insane how many there are.

Anal Farmer1

"bait and switch" when done correctly is a great story telling tool. its only a tool and Not the end all be all. Pacing is perfect, as well as the ending in ep 12

Anal Farmer1

Pulling each other’s best out is a fantastic way to put it, as the season develops frieren also learns

Kcosta

So Fern has this idea that she knows what is proper and what isn't. Despite growing up around 2 people, one of whom wouldn't know (Frieren wants to give it to Stark, because her master told her it would be a good present for a guy. She doesn't understand the implications. She just genuinely wants to make Stark happy) and other one might know - despite being a Priest, but probably would feel that she is too young and would be uncomfortable teaching Fern - a girl - about this stuff, since he was a guy. In his late 90's. Hence why Fern calls people "pervert" despite them not being perverts. She doesn't know, so she sees potential for something being perverted everywhere. Just like Stark doesn't have a frame of reference for how strong he is, Fern has 0 frame of reference for what is "proper" and what is "perverted".

Jan Negrey

Thanks for the fun reaction. Now we know who that guy in the opening is. And good spot on the ring and the pine cone in Frieren's suitcase. I like to think the Hero's Sword was left in that cave by Kraft when he was done saving the world, and the rock grew up around it like a stalagmite, over the centuries. I have absolutely no evidence of this. "Everyone who knew of my righteous triumphs has died." And I think Stark is happy with his axe, a good warrior's weapon, and one he's well-trained in. It's a fine weapon for hitting things until they don't get back up.

Carl Rigney

Everybody that works hard is a warrior!! I love Eisen's lines so much!

Roy Meulblok

Ah, yes, this episode. Onion ninjas, symbolism and just the subtleties of Stark's realizing that his dear older brother and master were giving him birthday gifts this entire time. That will never not make me (at least) tear up and cry. T_T

Melley Cat

You'll learn more about Himmel in the second season in terms of capability. S2 will be LITTTTT

Mojira

And a Cheating Mage

Beautifully said 🥹

Watching this show is like healing something I didn't know was hurting. It's so comforting and painful at the same time, it feels like opening an old wound so it can heal properly.

Blaire

My favorite episode of the whole season. Stark’s backstory makes me cry every time I watch it but it’s told so well. Also love how this show hits you with heavy/sad moments and then immediately throws in Frieren trying to use her clothes removing potion at the end as a gag joke lol

raikirrii .

And I would say Stark is a cowardly Hero. because all those little things he does in every village/city is similar to Himmel and he is always loved by the people and that is kinda what hero accomplishes.

RiShinMarco

I’m imploring you for a double drop this Sunday 🙃

MishkaTho

"Everyone who works hard is a warrior." That shit gets me every time.

Hollow

Every time I watch this episode again I cry. I know it's coming and it still gets me. Stark is so sweet and Stoltz is a great older brother, I love the detail of him kneeling down to teach Stark even though it means getting muddy right after the conversation about his pure white cape

Brandon Roy

Don’t worry, we’re crying with you… you just can’t see us.

Plushxi

In the intro Frieren, her master, and the as yet unnamed elf mage all shift their gaze to look directly at the "camera". No other person in the intro does that. Maybe next season we'll see Fern with the same impact

Timothy Munk

I didn't expected two episodes...my day is getting better :)) Thank you. This is such a good episode!

MrGentleman2.O

A fake Hero A corrupt Priest a cowardly Warrior All saved the world

Matthew Eis

Two more?! This is the best Sunday gift ever lol. And I got just as impacted as you were from the sequence at the end of that dream. It's an indescribable mix of emotions from a precious memory, and it always gets me not matter how many times I re-watch it.

The Blue Savior

stark realizing that he’s been getting birthday gifts his whole life will never not get me

Zachary Mullins

Heck he even looks like Loid a bit :) awesome VA choice

DietPop

Hearing Bakugo's VA not yelling is always interesting.

PearseNation

The onion cutting ninjas are in my room again...

Seal Oppa

As many times as I’ve watched this show, this episode continues to be my favorite. The symbolism of the sword, Stark’s background, Frieren being a menace. Perfection. Also, any time an anime does brotherhood stuff well, I connect so hard. Being the oldest brother myself, I hope I can be a good role model for my siblings.

Jordan Landry

This is my favorite episode so far, the concept of the hero sword is so fascinating and I think it’s a device to further nail the point that humans romanticize stories. I mean it’s quite obvious that you don’t need a “hero sword” to be a hero. Himmel was a hero well before defeating the Demond King and Stark is a hero right now, they don’t need a sword to define what they are.

Richie Moreno

Everyone who works hard is a warrior. 🥩

hurryupmode

This is such a good episode, it's very dense and so emotionally impactful, and the pacing is gorgeous. Really enjoying these reactions. I've never subscribed to an anime reaction channel before but been enjoying these frieren reacts so much i just had to be up to date <3

Laura Bea

Lmfao, Frieren has a gremlin mode. I love.

Andres

Fern talking about them romanticizing heroes reminded me of Himmel saying “we weren’t fairy tales, we were really here,” and my Sunday is ruined.

Andres

The way I see it is that it's not the sword that makes the Hero, it's the Hero that makes the sword. Give it a couple decades and there'll be the Axe of the Hero in that village where they first met Stark.

Leslaron

their old party is actually so adorable😭 a hero with a replica sword, a priest who always drinks, a warrior who shakes with fear, and a mage who suppresses her mana

Bambi

Stoltz means "Proud" in German. Makes sense as he was the "pride of the village".

Ser JohnY

Heiter has to have quite a lot of mana, aura said frieren while supressing her mana looked like she had roughly 100 years of experience, and heiter said frieren had 1/5th of his mana.

Emz

23:20 you also saw the ring in episode 1 after Himmel's funeral

Alex

Stoltz... you're doing spy work somewhere, aren't you...? Also, loved the scene where he crouched down to make eye contact with Stark, even if it meant getting his cape dirty🥲

Satooh R

It didn't hit me until now (this is probably like my 10th rewatch of this series at this point), but Frieren was late to her extermination duty. In 50 years she would return to the village to assist, but it took her 80 years this time. She was late because she chose to watch the meteor shower with her party at the lake over returning to the Village of the Sword.

Alex

Uh, another one? Thank you so much (づ ◕‿◕ )づ

Christopher Petersen

So many times in this story it is said that Stark is a coward, and yet as a little boy he stood in front of a horde of demons with his wooden training sword and was ready to fight...

Gregor Lorenz

There's a lot of fan theories about the Hero's sword. One of which is that the sword wasn't meant to defeat the Demon King but something worse in the future. It might not be that Himmel wasn't worthy rather that the threat hadn't arrived and Himmel was just born too soon, which would be line with the stories themes of short and long lifespans and different eras. Frieren might actually live long enough to meet the Hero that does pull hero's sword from the stone considering Kraft calls her "young".

CornCobBob

Repeating what I've seen commented before on this episode. The "fake" Hero The "corrupt" Priest The "cowardly" Warrior The "disgraceful" Mage This is the true party of heroes, they may not have been the protagonists of the stories that you'd expect, but they were the ones who made their own destiny.

Weezildude

There are very few anime nowadays that make me ugly cry. I teared up in JJK. I teared up in 86 (if you know you know), but this episode absolutely destroyed me when I first watched it.

Bob

Our boy Stark is a real warrior, having to beat the perv allegations every waking moment 😂

Rekway

This is probably my favorite episode of the show. It's so sad and I love what they did with Stark looking at the Hero's sword and then thinking about his brother, just beautiful.

Supr

This episode always gets me, Stark understanding what all his memories meant, similar to how Frieren is with hers. It makes me happy where ever he goes he makes friends and people adore him, just how Himmel was.

Leegion

Another double drop?! We are FEASTING today!
