For me,Anya has been adopted and abandoned by multiple families and that already breaks my heart, when that teacher asked which mother Anya prefers, that crossed the line And I'm pretty sure Anya can read and maybe even influence animals' minds. The cow definitely responds to her touching its nose. BTW:A picture falling off the wall is normally considered a bad omen, but it also usually breaks. I like the little touch that the picture doesn't break, and they can hang it right back up again. Basically, they've suffered a setback but will bounce right back. Also though Housemaster Swann was very sexist, it’s indicative of their times. This is set in a fictional world similar to the beginning of our cold war, so it’s like 1960s - 1980s values. That’s why it’s suspicious for women in their late 20s to be still single and the interview required both parents to be present.
