Well, the original Godzilla (Gojira), and assorted related kaiju such as Mothra, for example, were mutations which came into existence as a direct result of the atrocities commited at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They're what spawned the entire genre so I suppose you could say that all Kaiju exist because of those atrcities, though, obviously, some stories have different origins built in to them, such as dimensional portals or genetic experiments gone wrong. When no origins are given and the story is set in the real world it's usually taken as being related to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I have a feeling this story will have a different explanation when we finally get to the bottom of it.

2024-06-20 20:33:09 +0000 UTCIt's definitely kinda strange they don't explain where these kaijus come from and whether it's like a phenomenon across the world or dimensions, but then again the whole "kaiju" genre, like the kaiju movies don't seem to do a great job of explaining why kaijus exist either, albeit i haven't watched many kaiju films
