Dev Log #7 - RPG Mechanics

RPG Mechanics

Lots of artwork, but DP where's that update? Good question fellas. The last dev log had a lot of mechanic related questions in it, I worked on a prototype all week and finally... it ended up being really boring. I ended up creating a very boring incremental type game. I've decided to go back to our current "RPG" type mechanics and work on that instead.

I think I've unknowingly created a bad RPG. I've always thought of the game as a RPG, but the attributes in the game and gameplay revolving those attributes is so strangely crafted. This is because this is my first game I've ever created, and I didn't really know what I was doing. But, no worries, that's why I'm here to fix it.

Let's scrap the body part levels and let's work with a traditional naming scheme for our attributes. Here are the attributes for the girls:

With each level up, the attributes grow at a rate that I defined. I don't want to talk about formula numbers here so let's ignore that boring stuff. Clients don't really "fight" back here and I'm having trouble finding attributes to amp up the difficulty. I'm imagining the player selecting a client, assigning them to a girl and then the timer starts ticking. The girl fucks the client every X seconds (depending on their attack rate). The girl loses stamina each time she fucks, and the client loses HP (closer to ejaculating).

Let's look at what the girl's would specialize in:

As the girls level up, their respective attribute scales up higher than the rest. 

What I like

What I like about these new attributes is that I can now create clients, assign them a level, give them a base HP and Armor stat, and everything should work out on its own. I can leave the rest to the numbers.

What I need help with

These new mechanics assume we remove body part levels. I really like the idea of Scarlett having level 20 tits right off the rip, but we'd be switching to one singular level only. The question is, do I somehow find a way to account for body part levels? Do I ignore them and move on? There's a big downside to body part levels. If you fight a level 100 boss who wants tits, but Suki only has level 50 tits, you automatically lose. It forces the player to level up all the body parts together, and at that point there's no reason to have body part levels.

We need another attribute for clients. HP and Armor isn't enough. The girls are supposed to be the ones fucking the clients, but how can the client "fight" back? Body parts don't work with our new attributes, so the client switching body parts wouldn't affect anything.

Conclusion

Looking forward to that game then :D I guess I got a little confused whether you want to rework the game to be a better RPG, or to be something else, buts it's good enough for me to just wait and see what comes out.

I agree with everything you're saying, and the reason why i'm supressing all the cool RPG mechanics is because this is a 6 party game. If every girl had all these choices and stats, the game would be overwhelming. I would 100% love to take these ideas into a separate game, but that's a different story.

Another way to make different clients more difficult would be fetishes. The girls would need some way to learn about fetishes (and how to satisfy them), maybe through quests and sidequests. If a girl can't provide the fetish a client is looking for, he has +armour or +HP or looses HP slower. He is still beatable, but it is considerably harder (and gets less money?). What's cool about this is that it is easy to expand upon. Whenever a new quest to learn about a new fetish is implemented the fetish can just be added to a list to randomly draw from. Might even be doable to provide infostructur for modding for. Possibility: scratch body parts and only do fetishes. Then Scarlet could have the "Tits" fetish from the beginning on, Suki the Blowjob fetish and so on (but there could be way more and it would feel less like a doubeling of the HP, Damage,... system). Maybe every so many levels you can level a fetish up, but not as an infinitely growing number, but something like: blowjob->deepthoat->facef***. So its something really special and you have to play for a long time to get a girl to two maxed out fetish abilities. In refference to my other comment: That would give a lot of long play potential through the feeling of developing your RPG character.

To me an RPG kind of has a feeling of "I decide what this character is like based on how I level them". Because of that I would leave the bodypart system. Maybe with perks, like others suggested. Another idea I already partly wrote about in the past would be to give something like a level-up tree where at a certain point the player decides to take ie. Suki either in the lets say dd-lg or in the brat direction and then that influences how her stats develop on a gameplay level and on the asthetics she could expand on her finishing lines depending or even get a top level appearence change or something depending on the pick. There is a lot of motivation to keep playing an RPG to develop your perfect version of the character. You just need to know that there are still things to discover by improving like +1 Voice Line per 20 Levels or so. Idk just a thought.

Yup, we were brainstorming these types of stat changes in Discord yesterday. I'll implement something like this maybe with the body parts. But that's the direction most people suggested.

That's true, I'm trying to avoid too small of a change. For example, would anyone really notice a 10% increase in attack speed? Maybe not. But I like how you're thinking.

Think of it as skilled, a skilled person can make someone finish faster, so what if the opponent has moves that makes the chick wear out faster, or her moves make him finish faster. Hp is like stamina, but with technique you use less stamina or use more stamina based off his technique. Armor could also be changed to something like dominance or willpower/submission, as long as the girl stays in control, he finishes when she likes, or faster, but if he takes control and make her finish, he can move on to the next girl, so he gets more for his money. ;) Could also have the option to attack or defend, ie, use technique (attack) or willpower (defend). Based on the stats you see on the client compared to you own. Or in laymen's terms, who does who. Then it's add/subtract stats to see wears down faster. Then throw in traits/specialty for girls, to cover the body parts, traits, and positions, with preferences for the clients. Ie. Prefers red heads, small tits, short, muscles, and positions etc.. and bonus if you match traits to preferences.

Taking this a step further you could have girls have a body part perk and then an act perk they can spec into through leveled perk points or something so it still allows some level of customization. ie: Scarlet -Body Perk: Boobs +10% -Act Perk: Boobjob lvl 1, +1%; Blowjob lvl 5, +5% Client Body Part Preference: Boobs Act Preference: oral

Keeping with body parts, you could provide a modifier for each girl that allows them to have increased damage based on a clients preferred type of body part/sexual act and have the girls have a specific body part or act that they specialize in. Don’t have levels associated with the body part, just have it be based on who they are. Scarlett -boobjobs: +10% Client -preference: Boobjobs, Blowjobs, etc.

You could add bonuses to proficiency that are small but useful. Like 10% higher attack rate for apprentice (placeholder name), 5% increased armor for adept, and so on. That way with small flat bonuses you never balance around needing them, they just make the game a bit easier.

Thinking proficiency levels for body parts. Each girl could be more or less talented in a part and proficiency growth would be affected. Also as another stat, business sense,since you considering dropping morality, could function as an increase to money gain. It would also make that girl a great "finisher". Maybe just a finishing stat would accomplish the same effect.

How about domination a type of anemy that wont give in in the girl fucking him and he will take control giving you a nagative status affect, and you will need something like soduction to tame him. Sorry it just came to my head i need more time to give it a better shape but let me know what you think

Hmmm, I'm not following 100%. Wouldn't that just be a higher HP / Armor? To have the client outlast. I'd love an example, if you can provide one.

For another attribute, what about technique? can function similar to damage or attack power, and brings in the possibility of the client outlasting
