Scene from Deal With The Devil: Color Edition
Added 2022-05-24 13:00:07 +0000 UTCFollowing on from colorizing the Max & Roy scene a little while back, I thought I'd give Alex the treatment next. It's been interesting to go back to that story and see how I used to draw things - quite different from now! This scene is from pretty early on in the story.

I was thinking black hair for Alex too, but black is always tricky with my style because when set against the black outline, it can end up just looking like one big black blob, so I use a dark desaturated brown as a kind of stand-in for that.

The two tone definitely leaves characters appearance to interpretation. In the last I always imagined Max with brown hair with a touch of grey on the temples like Mr. Fantastic. Alex, I did always picture with dark hair possibly with black hair.

2022-05-24 14:01:52 +0000 UTCLovely work! One of the best parts of seeing you colourise these images is confirming (or dispelling) my mental image of the subject's hair colour - for some reason, I had seen Alex with sandy hair in my personal headcanon. He looks better with dark brown hair, though!
