Superman 2 (1981) Lester/Theatrical Cut

Loved watching this with you, was LMFAO when you were pondering what would happen to Lois had Clark not depowered before they... you know! 😆 Yeah Richard Lester seemed to go-ahead and make up whatever random superpowers he could. Unlike Donner, he wasn't sticking to any sense of "verisimilitude". That said I still prefer to watch the theatrical release over the Donner cut, but really both versions are imperfect. About 15 years ago I made my own edit, a hybrid version of the two cuts, i should probably cut it together again using 4k source material. It really was a shame that the Salkinds fell out with Donner and sacked him. What a film series it might have been had Donner continued making them all.

Yeeah.. The S shaped trap Superman threw at Non and 'the kiss' at the end are kind of sus to me. In fact Family Guy does a dig at the Trap bit. But I still dig the movie ..Loved your reaction. I can't wait for your watch of The Donner Cut.

Loved watching this with you ! I saw it in the theater when it came out and always thought it was the best one . I have never seen the Donner cut but am interested even though it isn't a full movie . I always like seeing directors' cuts like the extended Lord of the Rings and especially the real Justice League which is a great movie compared to the pile of garbage that came out in theaters . They cut the whole story out of that one . Keep up the great reacts ! You're in my top 5 of Patreon pleasures .

This movie gave the comic geeks something they had never seen before: the first BIG BUDGET onscreen battle between a superhero and super villians. So, yes, I've always preferred the Lester theatrical release because that is the one I saw back in the day in the theaters.

Fun cast fact: Actor E.G. Marshall, who playes the President, was one of the jurors in "12 Angry Men". He was the juror who "never sweats", and couldn't remember the details of the movie he saw.

I came back in to bust your chops about the joke you then immediately tried to back out of, but then you called skates “fruit boots” and I died lol I don’t understand the controversy around this one, I’ve never heard of such a thing. This is the Empire Strikes Back of Superman movies. I was 12 when this came out and I saw it in the theater. It’s a freakin comic book movie with comic book characters and comic book action. It’s not meant to be anything more. I love it.

I know there's a lot of controversy about this one, but I've always low key loved it. I think a lot of that is Terry Stamp - I'm so used to him as a Serious Actor, it's a treat to see him camping it up as a supervillain and looking like he's never had so much fun.
